So I like both colour choices, this set is a bargain look-a-like to a Denby set of dishware IMO. Can't choose between the blue/taupe or the mushroom/taupe. Anyone bored enough to open this thread and vote will be very appreciated!

Neither. Food won't look nice on either colour.

SeasideSunshine · 03/05/2015 12:14

blue, if those are the only options, but surely there are nicer choices available. Confused

PrimalLass · 03/05/2015 12:15

Denby have making lines with various colours inside for years now.

And I have two unopened boxes of the Everyday Denby (blue) upstairs because I couldn't face eating off them.

I have these instead, except they cost £4.50 a set when I bought them.

Sadly, I find myself swimming against the tide here - brown Grin

fulltothebrim · 03/05/2015 12:23

Always white plates. Plain. Same with cups mugs and bowls.
Crockery will break = white is easy to match.

YesPleaseJohnSnow · 03/05/2015 12:35

What colour is your kitchen?

RedToothBrush · 03/05/2015 12:37

They will both age really badly.

Anything patterned or not predominately white is very susceptible to fashion changes.

We bought seconds and trial only items that never made it to general sale from their main factory store years ago at silly prices. The stuff is great. It will last for another 20 years at least. You can drop it and it you are more likely to damage the surface or yourself. The quality of most of the imitations isn't as good.

Plus I have no idea why you need 'good china' if you buy a decent set of denby. So YABU in considering either option. Just use the perfectly good stuff you already have in the cupboard because both the blue and brown options are horrible anyway.

hestialou · 03/05/2015 12:40

What colour is dining room, I prefer blue over the brown BUT to let food speak for itself I always go white.

Dawndonnaagain · 03/05/2015 12:43

Definitely blue. May I ask where from, please.

ZacharyQuack · 03/05/2015 12:44

Blue.

A lot of food is brown/beige. A brown plate under it would be too depressing.

ProudAS · 03/05/2015 12:58

Blue but what about your colour scheme?

SeenSheen · 03/05/2015 13:02

Neither - go for white or cream on the inside. But, prefer blue to brown as it looks off-putting.

Rainbunny · 03/05/2015 22:29

Sorry for a delayed response. For those who expressed interest, I'm in the States and so saw them on sale at this site (perhaps the brand is available in the UK): www.wayfair.com/Baum-Mercer-16-Piece-Dinnerware-Set-MER16DBL-MERDGY-L790-K~BMEX1018.html?refid=GX54246069180-BMEX1018_12346856&device=c&ptid=75699514740&PiID%5B%5D=12346856&gclid=CjwKEAjwjpeqBRCDiKqliK2aiicSJAAgKD2FRQaP_QfpeucCOg6Mglqx29ryXY3ApHWmF0cU_XsmQBoCfg_w_wcB

TBH I'm probably going to stay with a white set as this whole coloured dinnerware business is too stressful! (joke!...I think...)

I have to agree with the majority about yucky brown.

But also, I had a set of blue dinnerware and it is sort of unappealing when the food is on it. I think there's a reason white, or predominantly white is popular

hidingfromthem · 03/05/2015 22:39

the brown is just rotten.
the blue is alright, i suppose. its not very stylish though is it?
white delph is always the nicest.

chlo95 · 04/05/2015 21:37

I'm sure I've read somewhere that eating off blue plates makes you likely to eat less, it's psychological

YouTheCat · 04/05/2015 21:46

All vile.

I have white at the moment because it's easy to match up. I'm thinking of doing what I've done with my mug collection and just going for a completely mis-matched selection of plates.
