So I like both colour choices, this set is a bargain look-a-like to a Denby set of dishware IMO. Can't choose between the blue/taupe or the mushroom/taupe. Anyone bored enough to open this thread and vote will be very appreciated!

Blue
We have dark blue Denby plates and it never occurred to me YHA goo looks odd on them.

Blarblarblar · 03/05/2015 06:26

I love the brown got a lovely 70's vibe. They also seem wholesome. My inlaws gave me grey plates recently it doesn't make my food look appetising.

Timri · 03/05/2015 06:33

Am I the only one who likes the brown better?
Especially the mugs, just imagine tea or coffee in them bad boys!
Lol

ItsADinosaur · 03/05/2015 06:41

Blue.

Cazakstan · 03/05/2015 06:58

I have brown Denby that we use everyday. Shock

I will from now on think of bum holes and poo when I'm eating from it.

I always thought that the colour complemented all food even a Korma.

6LittleOnes · 03/05/2015 07:11

Blue, I used to have brown tho (now have blue) and food looks fine on either colour

Kleptronic · 03/05/2015 07:35

There's a whit porcelain 16 piece Denby set on Ocado, £40 half price. James Martin Denby

Kleptronic · 03/05/2015 07:35

White, even.

DistractedAgain · 03/05/2015 09:53

There is not much blue food around, so I think it would be better to complement the meal with a blue plate.
I have found Denby is more hard wearing than most, so I would be inclined to use it everyday and get something cheap that changes with the fashions for entertaining. EBay does loads of Denby sets/job lots if it is the cost that puts you off.

saoirse31 · 03/05/2015 09:55

Blue definitely, first cos it's nicer and second cos the bumhole comment once read can't be forgotten!!

TrollshaveLittleWillies · 03/05/2015 10:24

I really like both but I am very slightly leaning towards the .....

....I'm building up the suspense

....... brown.

I have blue denby. The problem with Denby is it never flipping breaks so you can't go out and buy a new set without the guilt of a perfectly good set sitting in the cupboard.

Floggingmolly · 03/05/2015 10:55

Blue. I grew up in a brown house. Literally, everything was some shade of brown with a smidgen of magnolia here and there to lighten the effect. (Didn't work, as you an imagine).
I can't stand the colour in any shape or form now.

Floggingmolly · 03/05/2015 10:56

Oh, the white's better.

KatieScarlettreregged · 03/05/2015 10:59

Blue.

QueenBean · 03/05/2015 11:04

I know it's not an OP option... But the white link given by a poster above is so much nicer than these others!

I like widget for a name too. Wink

ratspeaker · 03/05/2015 11:05

I think widget is more a boys name, doohicky better for a girl.

I am biased as I have some lovely blue crockery. So a vote for the blue.
(Where can you buy this set btw?)

I'm sure there was a study done that showed using blue plates helped those with poor eyesight or dementia , something about contrasts.

inmyheadimthequeen · 03/05/2015 11:05

Not keen on Denby as a rule but of these the blue is far better

Purplepixiedust · 03/05/2015 11:08

Blue

BeaufortBelle · 03/05/2015 11:11

I found a box of Denby Memories in the shed last week. I retired it because it was soooooooooooo beigly dated.

Justusemyname · 03/05/2015 11:12

Blue

TrollshaveLittleWillies · 03/05/2015 11:13

White always looks lovely but it's a bit boring.

TapDancingMollusc · 03/05/2015 11:21

I'd go for the blue. Much more cheerful. :)

Blue is a relaxing colour too.

Follyfoot · 03/05/2015 11:33

Can I say neither? Denby do some others which are coloured round the outside then white in the middle, food might look much nicer on them.

Like this or this with a patterned side plate.

ThePinkOcelot · 03/05/2015 11:37

Blue vote here too!

Forgetmenotblue · 03/05/2015 12:09

Blue.

But if you go on eBay you could buy some funky vintage China.

Ive got some fab orange flower and brown swirls plates from the 70s that are hilarious. I use them when friends come over as we are late 60s born and all remember this stuff from our childhoods. People love it and get reminiscing.
