...to vote UKIP, even though I don't really want to?

What it says really. I've done about 5 of those online "who should I vote for" quizzes and every single one of them has got my top party as UKIP! Admittedly, it's a very close run thing between them and the Greens, but they are top of the pile every time. Frankly, I'm gobsmacked! I don't agree with lots of the (lesser advertised) UKIP manifesto but apparently I agree with lots of other (much advertised) parts of the manifesto, that have made it into the quizzes. I'm pretty sure that had all the parts that I don't agree with been included in the quizzes, Greens would have won.

Argghhhhh! What shall I do Mnetters?

Do not vote UKIP, Sad

orangutanhihio · 28/04/2015 21:53

Yanbu, vote ukip, it's a democracy. They won't win but it'll scare the lazy big parties.

TheEggityOddity · 28/04/2015 21:54

You want to vote Green, so vote Green. Trust your gut, those quizzes don't take into account personalities, party ethos, integrity, etc, etc. Or vote tactically for either one in your area, whoever is most likely to get in (probably neither anyway in fptp system outside marginal seats).

blushingbooty · 28/04/2015 21:55

Vote for who you want to, read the policies and decide? Those vote matchers I didn't think too much of because they didn't help me any. Do you know who to vote for locally?

Sirzy · 28/04/2015 21:55

Don't vote ukip. Vote anyone but!

Dawndonnaagain · 28/04/2015 21:55

If you want to vote for a far right party that encourages Britain First to sell it's merchandise, you go right ahead.

Dawndonnaagain · 28/04/2015 21:55

I will be voting Green by the way. I have nothing in common with UKIP policy.

TheCowThatLaughs · 28/04/2015 21:56

Not ukip fgs

Anniegetyourgun · 28/04/2015 21:57

A Green vote will be just as effective a protest with the bonus of not making you feel dirty :)

Jessica2point0 · 28/04/2015 21:58

Do you believe they'd actually do the much advertised stuff? How much do you disagree with the unadvertised stuff? Online quizzes are fun, but voting is too serious a thing to make a decision based on an online quiz.

thehumanjam · 28/04/2015 21:59

Green and UKIP are at opposite ends of the spectrum, some of the quizzes around are dodgy.

DianeLockhart · 28/04/2015 21:59

Don't vote ukip because of a quiz! I'm sure you know your own mind so make the decision yourself based on your views - it sounds like you're familiar with the manifestos so obviously you aren't clueless and need a quiz to tell you what to do.

Bair · 28/04/2015 21:59

Voting UKIP is like like applauding a kid that does a poo under the table at a restaurant. You tell yourself you're applauding the blow struck to the restaurant and its bad management, but it's still a turd on the floor when you're eating.

...to vote UKIP, even though I don't really want to?
RedCrayons · 28/04/2015 21:59

Don't vote ukip

CaptainHolt · 28/04/2015 22:01

Do they have any issues that would be a 'red line' for you, such as maternity rights, equal pay, the repeal of anti-discrimination laws etc. Personally I don't understand them economically either, given the huge net benefit that EU migration brings.
Do you disagree with the free movement of people? What about their health policy? They've said they want a privatised system but deftly avoid alluding to it in their manifesto. They talk a lot about social care but the ability of private providers to cherry pick profitable 'service users' is (imo) a large part of the problem. In short, they talk a lot of bollocks.

TheoriginalLEM · 28/04/2015 22:04

i didn't find that website useful. i could pick out which party was which by the language used. what struck me is that the ukip and green manifesto were simpler with a lot of promises but nothing saying how they would achieve them. The labour and conservative were more complicated.

Saying that it suggested labour/ green for me and my "heart" lies to the left.

PrettyPenguin · 28/04/2015 22:05

Oh I disagree very much with the unadvertised stuff. I was quite horrified by it actually. I do, however, wish that we weren't a part of the EU - mainly because of the horrific money wastage and pandering to yet another jumped up (and unelected I believe) parliament.

The majority of matters close to my own heart are similar to those of the Green Party or the Conservatives so I don't really think I'm a true UKIPer.

I'd much rather vote Green and suspect I probably will do. Our constituency is a (usually) very safe Conservative seat though so my vote will probably make little difference to that. He's actually an excellent local MP so I have no issues with him at all.

Would you like to take my 'Who should you vote for?'quiz?
It's very quick.

1.Do you like having equality as a woman?

  1. Did you take maternity leave?
  2. Do you think renewable energy should be encouraged?
  3. Do you feel uncomfortable about tracking?

How to score: Score 1 point for each yes. If you score more than 0 don't vote UKIP

PrettyPenguin · 28/04/2015 22:10

Thanks Giddy

Of course the European Parliament's elected. We had one just last year, don't you remember? Shockingly low turnout as usual, mind you, and UKIP did depressingly well, probably because people wanted to put in a protest vote and didn't think the Euro elections mattered that much. Here's a link to the results if you think I'm joking.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 28/04/2015 22:11

gah. tracking should be fracking. Even my tablet is anti fracking Grin

SagaNorensLeatherTrousers · 28/04/2015 22:17

I'd vote who my gut is telling me to vote. If you "don't really want to" I'd take that as your gut sayang no. I know loads going Green as a sort of "protest" but without all the negative stuff. A peaceful protest. Smile

PrettyPenguin · 28/04/2015 22:17

Well I'm against both fracking and tracking, Giddy. So that's fine either way!

We didn't vote in the European elections last year. For some reason both DH and I had been taken off the electoral roll so we never got any voting cards! We didn't know until we'd applied for something (I think it was getting a milkman) and we got turned down because they couldn't verify us as living at our address. This despite the fact that we've lived here for 7 years. The council were most apologetic but it was too little too late.

sayang? saying, even! Grin

Rivercam · 28/04/2015 22:20

We live in a democracy so you vote for who you want to. Therefore, vote for Greens if this who you really a want to.

I did one quiz twice. The first time I got a huge Conservative score, the second time it suggested I should vote Labour! Is it possible to agree with opposing views at the same time?
