I have been with my partner for 10 years and he is fab, we have two girls and he loves me, but is not romantic at all. We both want to get married but I feel robbed that he has never proposed,he just said, "we might as well get married then". He makes me feel that marriage is practical rather than romantic. Have I just watched too many soppy films? I just long for a romantic story of my own.

Oh OP congratulations! And now look how unique your "story" is! Spurred on By Mners and you popped the question yourself! No tuxedoed rabbits necessary Wink

My sister in law got taken to the top of the Eiffel Tower by her then boyfriend. He was intending to propose and then a pigeon shat on his head.

Shock Grin

Surely this is a thread in itself? Most disastrous proposals?

Bird shitting on his head is currently number 1.

Not sure where the high maintenance proposee would fit into the top 10 though. Its definitely not good but feels too sad to include it.

Congrats on your relationship, your children, your wedding and your long and happy life together Sunshine! Flowers

YouBetterWerk · 27/04/2015 15:15

Agree, MrsStarLord. It was all very sad, for everyone involved really. As we said at the time to her, this is what happens when 'The Proposal' is more important than the person.
needless to say she is a complete bridezilla

YouBetterWerk - now that is a whole other thread!! Smile

I did get proposed to once by someone who took me on a magical mystery tour and we ended up at a location from one of my favourite novels. The fella said he needed a wee so we had to get out so he could go in the churchyard - I was horrified that he would wee in this beautiful (and holy) place so was trotting after him, hissing 'you can't do that, we'll find a loo somewhere. Come back'.

Anyway, he went down on one knee and proposed - I said yes but he turned out to be an EA twat so called off the wedding before it happened and a mere 7 years later finally got up the nerve to get out and got together with my lovely (but rubbish at proposing husband)

Aaanny way.... as you were Grin

MY DH sounds v similar to yours. We had been together 7 years. I got fed up of waiting and asked him. Now been together 11 with 2 and a half years married.
