Klaxon: abscess in friend's mouth. AIBU? I'm bloody not...

She complained several days ago about "a sore mouth". She came round today after being at A&E to have it lanced and drained. She said that the Doctor told her it was the biggest he had seen and commented on the extremely pungent odour of the pus.

I swear this thing, even after draining, was FUCKING HUGE.

AIBU to end our friendship?

It would have been such a lovely day out together. Sad.

Plus she would not allow me to take photographic evidence. So Sad.

YANBU to end the friendship purely because she refused photos! Shock
How rude! Did she not know about us?

honeysucklejasmine · 22/04/2015 21:39

I think you mean "ex-friend".

EeyoresTail · 22/04/2015 21:41

I don't say this often but LTB!
Appalling behaviour by a so called friend Shock Grin

TheCunnyFunt · 22/04/2015 21:41

Shock Atrocious behaviour on her part. How could she not know about a bunch of strangers on the internet would pay good money to see this!?!

End the friendship right away.

FenellaFellorick · 22/04/2015 21:42

she doesn't deserve you.

HootyMcTooty · 22/04/2015 21:42

You deserve better from this friendship and so do we Grin

ElizabethHoover · 22/04/2015 21:43

did her breath not HONK?

JohnnyDeppsfuturewife · 22/04/2015 21:47

YA definitely NBU. I would be devastated if I had been let down like that by a so-called friend.

Have some Flowers and an unmumsnetty hug.

Alchemist · 22/04/2015 21:48

Okay, there's a tidbit more...

She said I can say it. Good lass, really.

She has two teeth on a bridge. When she woke up this morning and knew she had to attend A&E as her bridge had popped out overnight because the abscess WAS SO BIG.

Shock

she really sounds er... lovely

MrsTerryPratchett · 22/04/2015 21:51

Some of my friends wouldn't have understood. I think unless someone is willing to indulge your sporningness, they aren't a 'best' friend.

She is lovely.

However, she obviously did not learn to share. Even more Sad.

BlacknWhitePanda · 22/04/2015 21:57

How dare she? Refusal to take photos is just!! She is no friend!!

Alchemist · 22/04/2015 22:01

Truly, it is still magnificent but she is in pain and on AB.

Don't care. Feel as though I wasn't invited to the party.

I must find some new interests. Grin

Tbh fuck just getting a bloody photo. I would want to know why I wasn't invited to A&E so I could see it being lanced.

RedCheckedTablecloth · 22/04/2015 22:06

Can I chip in?

My DH has a HUGE cyst on his eyebrow but is being a bit precious about it.

Can I whack it with a Bible or The Complete Works of Shakespeare?

I have both at hand.

His GP has told him to wait for six weeks before seeing a plastic surgeon.

[Twitches]

kennyp · 22/04/2015 22:06

i might be a bit odd but a friend of mine had her abcess on her finger lanced and i was desperate to see it being done, except i couldn't get time off work.

are you joking in saying you're not going to be friends with her anymore?!?!?

blacktreaclecat · 22/04/2015 22:07

I would have loved to drain that. I hardly ever get proper juicy abscesses to drain these days :(

ThisFenceIsComfy · 22/04/2015 22:10

You know what's really sad?

I've never had a boil.

RedCheckedTablecloth · 22/04/2015 22:12

My ex-dh let me once pop an ingrowing hair on his chin.

It was at least three inches long and pure white and curly and looked like a plait with loads of gunk. Left a nice clean hole.

That is the only thing I miss about him.

Alchemist · 22/04/2015 22:18

kennyp I will probably still be her friend once I've recovered from my huff. Grin

blacktreaclecat Oh! No matter how infrequent, I imagine you would get great joy and memories from draining an abscess.

Bit jealous.

Years ago my Granny was in hospital, and she had a carbuncle on her hand. The doctor came in to drain it, and asked me to leave the room. Of course I refused! Now that was impressive.

catgirl1976 · 22/04/2015 22:23

YANBU

DH once had a gigantic in-growing hair thing on his shoulder. Wouldn't let me near it.

Then, I went to clean the shower, looked up and there was an impressive spray of blood and pus all over the ceiling of the en-suite shower. Fucker had popped it and not let me see. From the remains it was clearly a total explosion.

I've not felt the same way about him since. I made him clean up the mess, but I missed it :( He wouldn't even describe it. Just went all coy and stupid. Fucker.

Shockers · 22/04/2015 22:27

I have just decided to re-train as a lancer of boils.

Can you imagine a more satisfying career?
