to be agog at Amanda Holden's frozen face on This Morning today?

Why, Amanda, just why? It looks terrible, does she think nobody notices? I can't watch her without squirming with embarassment for her. She is clearly a beautiful woman and would be even more so if her face was capable of movement above her chin! And why do ITV allow it? That's my rant for the day.

There's an article about DVO in the Fail today. Scantily dressed bending all over a buggy on a golf course amongst other things. I wonder what her 5 year old DD thinks of that?

charliewolf · 20/04/2015 13:29

PickleSarnie yes I know it's none of ITV's business what anyone does to their face but by choosing to continue AH's employment, they are to all intents condoning what she has done, when in effect she has actually compromised her ability to "perform"

ITV must love her for some reason. Not sure what that reason is as she never seems incredibly popular with the public. Confused

VacantExpression · 20/04/2015 13:33

I feel sorry for her to feel she has to do this to herself.

charliewolf · 20/04/2015 13:33

I don't mean to bitch, it's just I find it terribly sad that the powers that be at ITV obviously think it's acceptable and that they are willing to employ a presenter who is unable to convey the normal expressions and emotions surely necessary to "present"

I was mesmerized by how ill-at-ease and shiny she was on Graham Norton on Friday night. I also feel sorry for her and I wonder what kind of message she is giving her daughters about women and the media they must be unnerved by her waxy appearance surely

TrueBlueYorkshire · 20/04/2015 13:42

Does anyone actually look at her face!?

minibmw2010 · 20/04/2015 13:45

Her voice and laugh are also very odd these days. Her laugh is like a little titter because she almost can't open her mouth? Very odd indeed, and such a shame as she was lovely beforehand.

Rox19 · 20/04/2015 13:46

Spmeone I know knows her make up artist.:: she has collagen wave treatments all the time apparently.

HappenstanceMarmite · 20/04/2015 13:50

Haven't seen her lately. But if we are talking not knowing when to stop, then Sharon Osborne surely takes the prize?! In that awful Money Supermarket ad Confused

browneyedgirl86 · 20/04/2015 13:51

I have been thinking this for weeks. Glad someone else has noticed!

I can't stand the woman but I think there's no need for her to do this to herself. It looks ridiculous. I actually feel sorry for her.

MyArksNotReady · 20/04/2015 13:52

What is collagen wave?

TedAndLola · 20/04/2015 13:53

Thing is, many people on this thread have said "she's beautiful anyway, she doesn't need it" - maybe that's why she thinks she DOES need it, to stay "beautiful".

Thank you for pointing that out, I was thinking the same. If we weren't so obsessed with how female celebrities (and females in general) look, perhaps Amanda wouldn't feel the need to do this.

Would the anti-Botox people think this was okay if Amanda wasn't naturally beautiful?

Floisme · 20/04/2015 13:58

Good point, Ted. I hate the look and I wouldn't touch the stuff but it's pretty obvious why she does it and I don't know why we're pretending we don't know.

Miggsie · 20/04/2015 14:00

I don't think botox is okay on anyone - it atrophies the muscle and will cause lasting damage to muscle tissue because the tissue cannot act naturally - like having your leg in a splint - it goes against the natural way the muscles work.
When you have a cast taken off you are given physical therapy to restore the muscle to correct function and strength.
Yet it is considered "normal" for women to damage their facial muscles because their natural face is considered unpalatable in some quarters.

IPityThePontipines · 20/04/2015 14:05

kwerty - the other actress was Noomi Rapace, who has a lovely, interesting face (and was happily pointing out her broken nose).

I agree with cedric that it is a form of self harm to inject your face with substances to the point it can no longer function normally.

What an awful message: the natural aging process on women is so hideous, it's better for women to paralyse their own faces.

VictoriaPeckem · 20/04/2015 14:05

The original This Morning presenter Judy Finnigan has aged naturally and been derided for doing so. She quit TM of her own accord but I doubt ITV would still be letting her present that show now.

BastardGoDarkly · 20/04/2015 14:06

A guestt the other week, said....Well, you have work done Amanda, so you know...she strenuously denied having anything done since she lost her baby (couple of years ago?) As she now hates needles, and procedures of any kind.

A blatant lie surely?

WorraLiberty · 20/04/2015 14:12

Sadly, she's probably just trying to secure a working future in front of TV cameras.

It's ok for Philip Scofield to be grey and have laughter lines.

Not so much for his fellow presenters if they happen to be female.

squoosh · 20/04/2015 14:14

I saw her on Britain's Got Talent at the weekend and actually thought she looked less plastic-y than usual but that was probably filmed a few months ago so she may well have had a raft of procedures done since then.

charliewolf · 20/04/2015 14:15

I am certainly not "anti botox", never given it that much thought tbh, I just don't undertand why anybody would actually pay for this invasive procedure when as in this instance it doesn't make AH look younger or prettier, just frozen, and emotionless!

I think there are some female tv presenters who have aged but they are the exception and usually because they have somehow proved themselves worthy. Whereas, blandness personified Pip Schofield can just coast along.

SaucyJack · 20/04/2015 14:28

I dunno really. I just watched a clip of the Graham Norton show to see and yes, she does look a bit peculiar and stretched whenever she attempts to move her face.

But in fairness, she's fifteen years older than Carey Mulligan (who she was sitting next to) and she's still holding her own looks wise so it's obviously doing something she's happy with.

Meh. Can't win either way.

squoosh · 20/04/2015 14:31

She's only 44, I think she'd look amazing without the botox. I suppose when you live in a world where everyone around you has had something done it's easy to lose sight of when it starts to looks a bit unnatural.

Sparklingbrook · 20/04/2015 14:33

Has it got to the point where she has to carry on with the botox/collagen wave or whatever?

Are there health risks to doing it long term?

I couldn't imagine having needles in my face for vanity.
