They've really over egged it by saying he proposed outside primak. Lol

Surely this is just something made up and the DM gave them a bit of money to use their image? Is this how newspapers work?

I feel quite sorry for her

Lovely title OP

BabyGanoush · 16/04/2015 11:23

?

FenellaFellorick · 16/04/2015 11:29

nasty title because it's a nasty article describing her exactly like that. It's a title that accurately reflects the revolting and typical daily mail hatchet job.

If she is real, you can bet your bottom dollar she's been stitched up like a kipper.

There's been threads on here before where people who know how the dm works have said that they ask questions in a leading way and then write the article really rather skewed.

850Pro · 16/04/2015 11:41

She should be made to get off her lazy ass and work.

Prometheus · 16/04/2015 11:45

This article was in Closer magazine two weeks ago with all the same details so maybe not a DM stitch up this time?

DoJo · 16/04/2015 11:47

Presumably she thinks she can make enough from selling this 'story' to go some way towards funding the wedding? It sounds like she might be a Katie Hopkins alike who has worked out she can make money from playing up to a stereotype which gets people in a froth.

OfaFrenchMind · 16/04/2015 11:51

I hope it's fake. It has to be.

teeththief · 16/04/2015 11:56

"She said: 'I was gutted. We only get £800 a month in benefits between us and after we've paid for bills, a night out at the pub, dog food for our Labrador, cigarettes and the odd kebab, there's barely anything left."

Surely that's a DM spin. Nobody in their right mind would say that would they?

Superexcited · 16/04/2015 11:56

The OPs title reflects the daily mail headline and article very well.

TaliZorahVasNormandy · 16/04/2015 12:40

Maybe if she gave up the fags and nights out at the pub she might be able to afford a wedding.

JamNan · 16/04/2015 12:51

These nasty stories often come from an agency hence it was in another magazine earlier. She will probably have been paid for the article but signed a contract that the feature writer could alter her words. I reckon she might have some mental health problems and has been taken advantage of.

On the other hand it could be a made up pack of lies. Hmm

Madbugger · 16/04/2015 12:56

Clearly these peopel really exist . The spin, however, is there for a reason.

And she is fat . She claims DLA and benefits as she says she is too fat to work.

Since when were we not allowed to call fat people fat or thin people thin?

She's hardly curvy! She's obese.

Madbugger · 16/04/2015 12:57

I reckon she might have some mental health problems and has been taken advantage of.

Or she could just be fat, lazy and greedy for money?

Cheby · 16/04/2015 13:07

I don't really get it, surely there's no possibility of her being given £10k by anyone, so it's a complete non event? I would quite like other taxpayers to pay off my mortgage in full, it's not going to happen, but maybe the DM would write a story about me? I am fat so obviously that would go in my favour but on the other hand I have a job so maybe they wouldn't be interested.

PannaDoll · 16/04/2015 13:09

I thought the same thing. I think it reads as a fake story because it has been ghost written by a 'journalist' who has obvioulsly given her a few shandies and let her ramble on about her dream wedding then reworded it in Daily Mailese so as best to horrify us proles.

IggyStrop · 16/04/2015 13:13

"We only get £800 a month in benefits between us and after we've paid for bills, a night out at the pub, dog food for our Labrador, cigarettes and the odd kebab, there's barely anything left."

Hahaha. Nicely played, DM.

Icimoi · 16/04/2015 13:21

Typical Mail monstering job. I'm sorry that people on this thread have fallen for it.

GlitterTwinkleToes · 16/04/2015 13:23

Its
true, it was in one of the magazines earlier this week Reveal or something like that.. Because they don't fabricate anything [sarcasm]
In all fairness, do they get paid for this? Magazines, now the DM

MrsToddsShortcut · 16/04/2015 13:24

This sort of 'news' article makes me so incredibly angry I could cry.

Her life really doesn't sound all that great to me. She's been stuck in a poverty trap for around 13 years now. The longer it goes on, the harder it will be for her to change anything.

She clearly does have physical problems as a result of her weight, as I don't think disability benefit is that easy to come by. Yes, they may be reversable, but as someone who is overweight myself, I know how hard it can be to lose weight, particularly at the level she needs to, without help and support.

She and her fiance live off 800 per month between them. Take away the 200 housing benefit and additional housing costs (because HB won't cover all of it) and they're not really left with a lot to cover bills, food clothing and everything else. They're not exactly living the high life, no matter how the DM try to spin it.

As far as the wedding is concerned? Of course she won't be given 10,000 or 5,000. It's her harmless pipedream that the Mail have decided to use to further perpetuate the hatred and bile that they foster against the poor.

We have celebrity lifestyles rammed down our throats by the media from all sides, as well as being bombarded with advertising telling us not just that we need stuff, but we deserve to have it to be seen as beautiful/worthy/cool. I don't think it should be entirely surprising then, when people take it to heart and have those aspirations for themselves; it's what the media tell them to do.

So this poor woman tells her little story to the press, probably being told that she'll get some pin money towards the wedding, and she is utterly stitched up from all sides. I feel really sorry for her as she is doing nobody any harm. All she's done is daydream about her ideal wedding, like millions of other women, because to her, it represents something better and more beautiful than her day to day life.

Shame on the Daily Mail. Absolute utter shame on them. And shame on all the people who buy into their hate filled perspective.

ghostyslovesheep · 16/04/2015 13:25

same shite different day - if she's unable to work she would have been ATOS assessed - they are not know for their kindness so she is unfit for work

the £800 will include HOUSING BENEFIT - so it's not all spent on food fags and dogs

it's just more bollox to justify beating the poor

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 16/04/2015 13:27
medona · 16/04/2015 13:30

There's agencys that specialise in this? What exactly is this?

Looks like all she's done is signed away the rights to her image and allowed them to quote her saying whatever.

They might of only got 200 quid for this.

The writing is comically in how it's made up, they really really over egg it!

OP posts:
WeAreEternal · 16/04/2015 13:32

It reads as though someone has interviewed her and said "so what would be your idea of a dream wedding?" "Do you think the DWP should offer loans for these kind of things?""what do you normally spend your income on?"
And then twisted what she said.

While I don't agree with people being able to claim benefits simply because they are overweight I don't think that is the issue here.

MistressDeeCee · 16/04/2015 13:32

So very well said MrsToddsShortcut

I despise this model of chaos that the government and media between them have perputuated so well. Put out stories to make the poor and the working class scorn each other after all everybody loves a scapegoat, someone to scorn, someone to look down on.

That they can get so many people to point the finger at others less fortunate, and to believe in the stupid shit-stirring stories they publish, is actually frightening.

I bet if there were a poll "should we bring back workhouses for the poor so they don't try to rob the taxpayer by having the audacity to be in social housing, or claim benefits" most of us would be surprised at the result. Or, perhaps not..

26Point2Miles · 16/04/2015 13:34

How come she gets DLA for overeating and her fiancé appears to just get income support and he's been epileptic all his life?
