They dont seem to get much press IMO.would like to see a lot more of them to help me decide. Would be good to see them against each other maybe in the apprentice or bake off? Anyone else agree?

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 14/04/2015 17:56

Please elaborate Smile

JennyOnTheBlocks · 14/04/2015 17:56

why would we need to?

unless they are standing for election..

TheMoa · 14/04/2015 17:57

Are you insane?

Or are they standing as candidates, a fact that had completely passed me by?

Fromparistoberlin73 · 14/04/2015 17:59

ERGHHHHHH

inane claptrap . sincerely

ghostyslovesheep · 14/04/2015 18:00

oh I see you are referring to the wives of two party leaders - why would we need to see more of them - they aren't standing for election

Owllady · 14/04/2015 18:00

I thought you meant Justine Roberts!

I thought you meant Justine from Mumsnet

Why would we need to know anything about the wives of 2 party leaders?

MagicMojito · 14/04/2015 18:08

No. I don't think I'd base my vote on who should run the country on how well their wives can bake a pineapple upside down cake Hmm Smile

OrlandoWoolf · 14/04/2015 18:12

I like the idea of a Come Dine with Me with Cameron, Milliband, Clegg and Farage..

IgnoreMeEveryOtherReindeerDoes · 14/04/2015 18:17

I thought it was Justine from here and wondered who heck Sam was anyway in answer to your question OP no I don't need to see more of them why?

Kitsandkids · 14/04/2015 18:22

They both have young children so I imagine that their top priority is spending time with them.

CMP69 · 14/04/2015 18:26

I'm delighted we see very little of the families. Party politics has nothing to do with the wives or husbands and children of the candidates

UptheChimney · 14/04/2015 18:27

Sehyo is Justine? Who is Sam? Do they have family names?

Most importantly, which constituencies are they standing for?

Otherwise,

Biscuit

One the things that pisses me right off at election time is SamCam being wheeled out in an M&S frock, heels from Zara, smiling at Dave over a patch of home grown veg or something. Apparently, I should think 'Wow. Look at that. Dave's just a regular guy after all, with his M&S wearing wife, Sam. In a kitchen, having nice cup of tea.'

And then I forget the fucking awful agony he has presided over, in his demonisation of the poor, allowing IDS to wreak havoc, and stay seriously silent over some pretty major issues.

I hate pre-election shit. I hate being treated like an idiot.

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 14/04/2015 18:32

They both have jobs and kids. I for one am glad "wives" aren't getting wheeled out for scrutiny like feminism never happened.

Blueskybrightstar · 14/04/2015 18:38

For some reason I can't think of anything but Spitting Image after reading this thread.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 14/04/2015 18:39

I'd like to think that Justine and Miriam are too busy for Zara-n-M&S photo ops.

ljwales · 14/04/2015 19:28

Wow I've misjudged this one. I think it is very relevant who they are married to, they also will be moving into number 10 and be in the light plus the pm will probably get lots of advice off their dp.

Please don't try to turn this into feminism just because each of their dp are female, if the scot or green women had male partners (are they straight?) They also would be invited.

Seriously? Get a grip.

Fortunately this is not the US and the role of being a PM's partner is not the same as First Lady. I wonder whether Bill Clinton will be called First Gentleman if Hillary gets elected?

PatriciaHolm · 14/04/2015 19:38

They aren't the politicians. They aren't standing in the election. It's nice to know they aren't raving racist loons, but aside from that they are irrelevant. We don't vote for a PM as a person in the UK, we vote for parties and the winning party appoints a PM. The PMs wife or husband or partner is largely irrelevant.

Handsoff7 · 14/04/2015 19:40

YABU unless you think we should have to take our spouses to job interviews

Pico2 · 14/04/2015 19:47

The PM has an entire civil service, political party and MPs representing their constituents to advise him (or her). But of course you are right, most of the last five years is based on what Samantha Cameron scrawled on the back of an envelope and put on the fridge for Dave to see when he got in.
