I'm not really a big eater in the morning, but something I do eat on occasion are pain au chocolat. I've had them 2 days in a row along with some fruit juice.

DH this morning says that they are not a breakfast item as they have chocolate in them. AIBU to kill him and eat my damn chocolatey goodness Grin

He has them plain for pudding; no custard Grin

I showed him this thread, he thinks we're all weird. He's truly baffled. He comes from the weetabix and porridge school of breakfasts though. Grin

I wouldn't expect to have them at any other time than breakfast.

I wish I hadn't opened this thread - I'm dieting, starving hungry and now desparate for pain au chocolat!
Recently stayed in France and found the diet of pastry and baguette very bowel clogging (tmi Grin!). Delicious though!

It abso-bloody-lutely is! I love them and have them some weekends! He's crazy, crazy I tell you! Grin

Of course it is much better not to have so much choccy or sugar for brekkie. However, since I discovered the frozen Waitress pain au chocolate, I do them every weekend. They go in a hot oven for 15/20 mins and are nicer than any I get in the shops. I make sure it is balanced by serving porridge that morning before they are ready.

One of my friends went to boarding school in France and for breakfast was given a croissant with a bar of chocolate stuck in the middle.

guybrush crêpes with jam used to be the traditional "I can't be bothered" (often Sunday) dinner my very French mother used to make. I keep the tradition going with my baffled American DH. It's awesome.
