I get it's a towie phrase (never actually seen it myself), but it's a phrase that's a couple of years old now and just plain naff.

I have a friend who shouts "lol" when she says something offensive/rude. Nobody's called her up on it yet but we have another friend who visibly clenches when she hears it. I've got a fiver on her smacking her by June.

OrlandoWoolf · 12/04/2015 15:08

I know someone who says LOL a lot.

He's 9 Grin

He also uses hashtag a lot as well.

McPie · 12/04/2015 15:09

YADNU! Gawjus is the one that's bothering me at the moment, there is just no need!

Aeroflotgirl · 12/04/2015 15:10

Its awful, as well as various others that I cannot erm remember right now Grin

NataliaBaker · 12/04/2015 15:14

Oh god I used to say lol as a word. Why oh why did no one stop me? :')

OrlandoWoolf · 12/04/2015 15:16

I use LOL and hashtag - but only with DS. And occasionally with my class.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 12/04/2015 15:46

I would probably find it fairly grating to hear Lol.

LoisWilkersonsLastNerve · 12/04/2015 16:09

One of my dearest friends talks and writes in celebrity text speech. Its really hard not to take the piss Grin
She called me hun bun one day Angry

BossWitch · 12/04/2015 16:17

Is there any way that you can maybe, subtly, shoot her in the face?

Shockers · 12/04/2015 16:32

Is it said in an ironic way?

UnbelievableBollocks · 12/04/2015 16:37

I can hack well jel, but lol and hashtag make me stabby.

thebeesankles · 12/04/2015 16:37

Yanbu. I have a friend who is currently describing anything remotely pleasing as badass. It drives me nuts.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 12/04/2015 17:01

[ha]
I live in Essex and I've never heard anyone say "Well Jel" or "Ream" or "Shuuuuuuuut Uuuuuppp"

I've never watched TOWIE apart from 30 seconds when I was channel hopping.

But I don't hang round 'trendee nite-spotz' neither Wink

WorraLiberty · 12/04/2015 17:03

Chillax OP

It's only bantz innit?

PuppyMonkey · 12/04/2015 17:04

My DD is 18 and sometimes when she agrees with something she'll say: "testify." Or sometimes it might be:"Represent."

I'm finding it increasingly difficult not to copy her as I find this amusing. AIBU? Grin

Mrsjayy · 12/04/2015 17:11

Me and dd1 say totes emosh everytime dd2 has some drama or other drives her nuts amuses us for ages

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 12/04/2015 17:15

Bantz. Oh God, bantz.

Bloody hell, that's bad.

Bakeoffcake · 12/04/2015 17:28

I don't mind it.

One of my DD's friends says, if something great is happening to her- like going on holiday "I'm jealous of myself" I love that!

Littlecaf · 12/04/2015 17:29

Depends on the context. I say 'well jel' when I'm being ironic/playful/trying to be funny and failing I wouldn't say it in normal conversation or as part of everyday speech as it's an odd phrase. But it's a bit of fun from a TV show so YABU. Just ignore.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 12/04/2015 17:31

A man with a top knot in my block was telling someone on the phone about the "top bantz" he had last night. Can't stand it!

ScorpioMermaid · 12/04/2015 17:47

Yanbu

My 9 year old DS says 'LOL' aswell.. give me strength Confused

muminhants · 12/04/2015 20:06

Just out of interest, if you are referring to a hashtag on Twitter, what word are you supposed to use instead? It's a thing, unlike "well jel" or my particular favourite "bestie" which I always read as "beastie".
