I get it's a towie phrase (never actually seen it myself), but it's a phrase that's a couple of years old now and just plain naff.

It's not as bad as 'bae'

Muminhants - nothing wrong with using the word hashtag on Twitter. IMHO it's when people start using it in everyday conversation - making a comment and then saying (out loud): "hashtag awkward" or etc - that it gets a bit cringe. Hashtag cringe, I mean

I use all this stuff ironically so often it's changing who I am!

i don't mind well jel so much, unless its said on repeat.

But "nom nom" gives me the absolute rage. Deeply irritating whether said, or written

& a few friends have developed hashtag fever on FB. eg #feelingblessed#hadawickedtime#imgonnagetmine#rollon2015#nostoppingmenow# all jumbled into 1 long sentence that I can't decipher at times

I think Im probably behind the times ...

Bill Bailey once made an audience say lol instead of laughing when they found anything funny - think it might have been on QI. It was very funny and slightly depressing at the same time. He was making the point that if you find something so funny you need to lol then actually laughing out loud would be far more appropriate and normal.
I will however use all the latest phrases when dc are old enough to use them, especially in front of their friends for maximum embarrassment - I'm not even attempting to be a cool mum!
