I took my children to a local attraction today and we took part in a science experiment workshop. They had few tables for the amount of participants so a Dad joined us on our table with his young son. He then asked us where we were from and if we lived locally. When I said the town we lived in, he pulled a mildly horrified face and said "ooohh"!. I was bloody outraged at the rudeness of him, I just can't believe peoples lack of manners. We don't live in the best town in the area by a long shot but I hardly think that was called for! We then had to sit politely whilst he over parented his son by loudly questioning him on every tiny science based fact. He even tried to do it to my kids as well. I just wish I had had the balls to pick him up on his snobby attitude but I just didn't want to cause a scene. Is it me or was he a complete knobber?

Its quite reassuring to know there are other equally crap towns up and down the country. I feel like a member of the shite town club. Its giving me a warm fuzzy feeling.

Well......

If people ask where I live, I always answer West Berkshire even though it's only 3 miles from Reading.

I've had this a lot since moving out of London to the country. People ask which part of London, then make a face and say 'That's a bit rough, isn't it?' I look at them deadpan and say 'You must lead a terribly sheltered life.'

Other times I tell them how a mob looted our local Sainsbury's during the riots, and was only stopped from continuing up our street towards our ground-floor flat (where I was alone with a newborn) by the fact that all the Turkish shop and restaurant owners sat out on the street all night with every male family member they could get together and baseball bats. Then I tell them I really, really miss it.

Of course he was a total rude snob.

Funnily enough people are often extra proud of living somewhere a bit 'gritty' in London. I know many of my friends would be snobby about Crawley tho as we grew up relatively near there and probably thought our town was nicer. I was a misguided kid tho. The guy is still a knobber
