Listening to a thing about housing last nite and the pundit Kept saying well in Europe they rent and I would much rather rent than be a home ower

Did a little googling on said pundit and he lives in very smart part of town and recently I been hearing this a lot but it's bull shit said by only people who are not currently renting I have rented now finally have my own home and I would much rather own

We can decorate how we like we not paranoid about be homeless any moment And at the whim of the coucil if we want a reapair done we ring a guy pay and it gets done not sitting with no heating for 6 weeks while we wait for the coucil to sort their shit out I hated renting and I had a fairly secure tenancy can't imagin how sit it must be renting on the open market

So I think the pundit was a nob and only wankey homeowners say things like this

I think we have the best of both worlds - we live in an estate cottage. I mean estate as in stately home property. It's ace in terms of long term tenancy (basically life unless you stop paying rent). They are SO slow to fix anything tough! (My LL is Princess Diana's brother :D)

The coal shed is about to fall down, but we won't have to move any time soon!

In some EU states by the way the tenant pays for repairs, new boilers etc. i suspect British tenants want rights but not responsibilities so be careful what you wish for with wanting continental tenancy laws.

I agree a lot of renting is hard if you don't want to be renting. I/we rented for years (between owning too) and have only just moved from a rented place to our bought home which we wont be leaving for at least 5 years . Perhaps this is why we are good LLs.

We rent a house out. We allow the tenants to have pets, decorate (we pay for their choice of colours too every couple of years if they want a freshen up). We've told the tenants we have no intention of moving back or selling so it's theirs for as long as they want. We get all repairs and maintenance done immediately. We haven't put the rent up. I have no idea why our tenants choose to rent, they are both high earning professionals with no dc and appear to not have any plans to have any (they are a single sex couple) they appear to be able to afford to buy if they wanted, but seem to like renting. They are lovely.

When we rent (DH works around a lot) we choose to rent too.

'I certainly never had to wait any longer than I have done as an owner. '

You're free to sell up and rent since it's so great.
