I date lots of younger guys, and there seems to be a real trend for these. They are usually massive and ever expending.

Is it me or are these just ugly? Can't see why so many 19-24 yo get so much skin covered with them

I hate all tattoos, I just think that skin looks far more beautiful without ink. The bigger the tattoo, the worse it looks so the body covering ones look awful to me - even if the design is good, I would rather see the design on paper, I don't like it on skin.

I make no judgement about the personality of the person, I have several friends with tattoos, but I do think their tattoos look revolting.

I'm married so dating is long gone, but I wouldn't have dated someone with big tattoos because I really don't like the look of them and there has to be some physical attraction to want to date someone. I don't want to wince every time I see them.

AGirlCalledBoB · 03/04/2015 12:26

My oh has 4 Hmm

All done before I met him, they don't look too bad actually. Am not a massive fan myself but his are not massive and are all covered when he wears a shirt.

AIBU to think judging people bases on their taste and personal preference is as ugly as?

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/04/2015 12:37

I think un-tattooed skin is boring. But yep, each to their own Grin

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 03/04/2015 13:35

That's a new one on me! Really? At what age does one's skin become boring? I'm assuming you don't think I should tattoo my baby Grin

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/04/2015 14:00

I was kidding, First, it was in response to those saying "I think tattoos are ugly/vile/gross but hey, that's my opinion and I'm entitled to it". I'm not about to suggest mandatory tattooing of babies to make them stand out that's what ear piercings are for Wink

I can't imagine being without my tattoos. But what anyone else does doesn't even register with me.

Except for eyebrows? I assume I'm not the only one who thought their baby needed a bit of very subtle brow enhancement. The pencil kept getting rubbed off.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/04/2015 16:58

I gave mine a full on Scouse brow. Couldn't have the eyebrow pencil rubbing off at the christening when they put water on her head. Two days old, permanent HD brows. Win.

I don't judge the person, I just don't like the look of a tattoo. I think they look horrible. Wouldn't stop me talking to them or being friends with them, but it might stop me from dating them if I found it a turn off, and it might stop me employing them if I found it offensive or distracting.

What exactly is wrong with judging a potential partner by something they've done to their body that you find unattractive? Lots of self righteous people here.

OP posts:
HeisenbergsBlueMeth · 03/04/2015 22:48

Omg she's not saying all tattoos are ugly, just them ones that these young lads have that all look exactly the same. I agree with her, ive got plenty tatts but big ass tribal prints over the shoulder are just boring and unimaginative

ComposHatComesBack · 04/04/2015 01:59

Tribal tattoos like that were big in the late 1990s. That leg design looks really dated.

I wonder if the 'young lads' she's dating are billy bullshitters who are actually pushing 40 and have had that tat for the best part of 15 years.

Casimir · 04/04/2015 07:43

The clue is in the brand (tattoo) 'Tribal'. Belong to the same tribe. Original thought discouraged. Tells a great deal about potential partner.

Ha no they really are that age, it sadly is still a thing

FindoGask · 04/04/2015 08:38

I feel like i'm in a time machine! No-one gets tribal tattoos any more. Loads of people who got them 10-15 years ago are busy lasering them off.

HoppityVoosh · 04/04/2015 08:45

I'm also one who is surprised that these young men are getting tribal tattoos. I didn't think anyone got tribal tattoos anymore.

ljwales · 04/04/2015 08:49

Loads of guys in their 20s sadly still get them. Sign up on tinder and have a look

Does this man know his picture is on mums net?

Have to say that someone putting a picture of themselves half naked on a dating site would be more of a turn off than the tattoo! although if after a few dates they revealed that tattoo I wouldn't complain (although I am happily married so obviously that would not happen!)

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2015 08:56

Who gets to decide what style of tattoos are acceptable? Surely the only criteria is that the person being tattooed likes it.

SoupDreggon · 04/04/2015 08:56

I think the tribal ones look far better than all the floral and wordy ones.

ScotsWhaHae · 04/04/2015 08:58

Oooo I'm all a fluster!

Not going to post private photos from a dating app, would get me banned here. But there really are lots of young guys that still get them
