I date lots of younger guys, and there seems to be a real trend for these. They are usually massive and ever expending.

Is it me or are these just ugly? Can't see why so many 19-24 yo get so much skin covered with them

pollykinesis · 03/04/2015 08:47

I'm in New Zealand and tattoos are a huge part of Maori and Pacific culture. I'm neither of those ethnicities but I love the tattoos, they tell the persons story, their lineage and are often done in the traditional way with a little hammer thing!! . Probably not the sort of 'tribal' tattoos you're taking about to be fair but some body art is more than just ink.

Greenandwhiteswans · 03/04/2015 08:52

DPs back.....we is right common OP

to think "tribal " tattoos are ugly as
noddyholder · 03/04/2015 08:57

Some people really have too much time on their hands tips get so worked up about someone else's CHOICE I had a tattoo done 30 yrs ago in Thailand and it still looks like it did the day I had it done. I wanted it at the time and I still smile when I look at it. And really grown women referring to 'tramp stamps'?

plannedshock · 03/04/2015 09:01

The ugliest thing can be judgmental personalities. There's no laser removal for those ugly things.

MythicalKings · 03/04/2015 09:03

I think all tattoos are ugly. A lot of people don't. Not sure that tribal tattoos are any worse than the others.

YABU.

fairyfuckwings · 03/04/2015 09:07

I've got a tribal tattoo that I got in the late 90s.

It is a bit shit but I rarely see it as it's on my lower back. The only time anyone other than my husband would see it would be if I wore a bikini on holiday.

I had no idea people would be judging me so harshly Sad

fairyfuckwings · 03/04/2015 09:09

And "tramp stamp"!!

What a horrible phrase.

Charlotte3333 · 03/04/2015 09:09

I like tattoos and have 3 in places that don't show unless I wear a bikini. No idea why anyone gets worked up about another individual's body; if you don't like tattoos, just don't have one, and don't date anyone with one. No point seeing it, dating them and then complaining.

DH doesn't like tattoos at all, says mine are passable but that he couldn't marry someone with tattoos on arms/wrists/hands that are on show all the time. His problem, not mine.

One of mine is a lyric from There is a Light That Never Goes Out by The Smiths. I can't imagine it's anyone else's cup of tea but I've never regretted it even for a second. I doubt I will, even when I'm 87.

This.

DamsonInDistress · 03/04/2015 09:30

I really dislike tattoos on anyone and don't understand the impulse to get one. But you know what OP, I don't have to understand because it's not my body. Thankfully people are free to do whatever they wish. I'll also admit to being extremely disappointed if my sons ever get them, but I expect I'll get over it, it's their choice after all. If you don't like men with tattoos then don't date men with tattoos. Simple. Or you could give it a go with an open mind and maybe even find your soul mate one day...

JacquesHammer · 03/04/2015 09:32

Ooft well I'm a bit of a conondrum. Substantially older OH with a tribal tattoo Grin For the record, doesn't look wrinkly at all.

What I find so amusing about these threads is the perceived to judgement. Can you fight your way through all the threads entitled "AIBU to think people without tattoos are really boring"? Nope, thought not. Because people with tattoos don't care what other people do with their skin.

ljwales · 03/04/2015 09:33

Lol I was quoting the earlier post! I defo do not have a dh!

OP posts:
JacquesHammer · 03/04/2015 09:36

In fact OH is double the top age bracket OP mentioned - I can't decide whether he'd be delighted or not to be class as such a hip young thing Grin

catlover40 · 03/04/2015 09:37

I am not a fan of tribals. I have many Tats but they are largely rockabilly/goth style ones being a goth myself! It depends on what you are into. Goths do not tend to have many tribals but many males who are not into alternative stuff appear to like the tribal stuff. Each to their own!

BolshierAyraStark · 03/04/2015 09:38

What plannedshock said.

Not your body so MYOB, YABVU-obviously.

thetroubleis · 03/04/2015 09:39

I've got a load of tattoos on my back, you'd never see them day to day- I look as boring as tap water.

greenandwhite love it.

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 03/04/2015 09:41

If my biggest concern when I'm 80 is what my tattoos look like, I'll have lived a pretty awesome life Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 03/04/2015 09:42

I don't care whether someone has tattoos or not, I don't because I wouldn't like the permanence of them. I do find it odd though that some posters take exception to being judged about tattoos when they're happy to judge myriad other things themselves.

Is it really judging when somebody doesn't like something that you do? I think not. It's a difference of opinion. Nobody's stopping anyone from getting tattoos, buying Boden dresses or eating ice-cream for breakfast and the hysterical "... ugliest thing can be judgemental personalities." is a bit silly really.

Nobody really cares what anybody else does unless it impacts on them personally.

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/04/2015 09:45

I love them.
I'm planning a tribal tattoo as soon as I can scrabble together the dosh.
It doesn't cross my mind how pretty it'll be -it'll be symbolic, which is, in my case at least, the point of it.

Littlemonstersrule · 03/04/2015 09:46

I don't think they are any worse than other tattoos but I detest tattoos and would never date a person that had them.

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/04/2015 09:46

I love seeing older people with tats -I think they're interesting.

irishamy89 · 03/04/2015 09:47

YANBU, they look awful. One of my cousins ex's had one on her back and really regretted it.
She got it done when she was quite young and a bit wild and common.
Now she is a very beautiful, sophisticated woman and feels that it looks like a horrible tramp stamp on her.

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/04/2015 09:49

Oh Green that is bloody gorgeous.

ThatBloodyWoman · 03/04/2015 09:51

She got it done when she was quite young and a bit wild and common

Wow.
Thats ugly.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 03/04/2015 09:58

I'm with LyingWitch. I don't like tattoos (except traditional Maori ones actually) - just not my thing. I don't like jogging bottoms for daywear, tomatoes on sandwiches, or those crappy foamy shapes sold as 'craft kits' for kids either.

I don't expect to be branded 'an ugly judgemental personality' for just not liking something Confused, to be honest. I don't give a shit if someone has a tattoo. I just don't like them.

I know loads of people with them, including my sister and her partner. They wouldn't have a clue that I don't like them - I wouldn't say anything about it. It's not exactly a big deal. As long as I'm not treated to 'how much my tats like really mean something deep and meaningful to me' speeches too often, then we're good Grin

People like different stuff Grin
