Should I stay with this baby?

I'm at a theme park... A family consisting of 2 adults, 2 children around 9/10 and a baby around 1 in a buggy have just pushed the baby towards a railing, left their child in it, and all gone off to queue for a ride that's at least 30 minutes queuing time and out of sight.

(I know this because my DD and her godfather are in the queue and I've already been waiting 30 minutes.)

I can't believe people would do this??

Hmm Ok then, we have been told.

Tipsykisses · 31/03/2015 16:07

Wow !
Shocked that anyone would actually walk off & leave a baby at all but for that length of time ShockShockShockShock

I do hope the management of the park do more than have words with these people ,the poor baby Confused

BooChunky · 31/03/2015 16:08

They came back just before the manager did. They literally strolled back and I don't think they would have said a word if I didn't point out that I had been with their son for an hour and got a member of staff.

The dad said 'no thank you' in a jokey voice and started to wheel the buggy away. The girl with us was only late teens / very early twenties and tried to talk to them but he said 'no' again. Literally just casually, like we were trying to sell him something. They walked away and the girl pointed out her manager in the direction the family were walking coming towards us and jogged to join him and he spoke to them but I was too far away at this point to follow and basically it's none of my business.

So no resolution. I feel incensed actually. One of my friends is currently living the nightmare of the one year anniversary of her son dying, while these people are happy to leave theirs in a busy theme park alone for over an hour.

I could kick myself for not wheeling both buggies away earlier.... They deserved a shock.

You can probably still report them, the police could look at cctv to identify them. As someone else said, if they do that in a public place then god knows what they do at home.

Tiredmumno1 · 31/03/2015 16:11

I agree FromMeToYou, it definitely needs reporting.

Salmotrutta · 31/03/2015 16:14

If they were that casual about it they'll probably do it again! Shock

Tipsykisses · 31/03/2015 16:14

Doesn't sound like they care at all tbh

Gruntfuttock · 31/03/2015 16:16

They could be doing the same thing right now at a different ride.

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2015 16:17

I think you should definitely still report

You have a witness as well so it should be straightforward enough

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 31/03/2015 16:17

CCTV, police. I would absolutely report them.

Patapouf · 31/03/2015 16:20

Jesus. Absolutely disgusting. Hopefully the manager will call the police Shock

BooChunky · 31/03/2015 16:22

Well I spoke to customer services about reporting them, and was told 'it's a thin line actually, the baby is their responsibility, there's nothing we can really do.' They were surprised a member of staff helped me as they're not trained to deal with this and 'the younger ones especially would usually just leave these situations alone'

Confused

Good to know.

Poor baby , can't believe the attitude of the management !

Goldenbear · 31/03/2015 16:28

Surely, you can call the police off your own back- you don't need the theme park's approval? Equally, the police can ask for the footage. It is so neglectful, I wouldn't be able to just leave it at that.

Gruntfuttock · 31/03/2015 16:28

Was the baby calm bewteen waking up and his parents returning?

Gruntfuttock · 31/03/2015 16:29

Between , not bewteen ^^

madreloco · 31/03/2015 16:30

No point in calling them now, after the fact. First of all they have no way of knowing who they are, and second of all its your word against theirs unless you have time stamped full cctve coverage of the exact spot (rather moot after point 1 though)

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2015 16:31

The theme park don't want the negative publicity

Just call the police off yourself, if you want to report them.

WorraLiberty · 31/03/2015 16:32

I don't know where the stray 'off' came from Blush

GreenPetal94 · 31/03/2015 16:35

It is hard for the park to have a policy as if they see a buggy it may have only been left for 1 minute.

If you don't have names there is little point calling the police.

BooChunky · 31/03/2015 16:36

He woke up but didn't cry actually.

I don't really think I can call the police. Do they even have CCTV outdoors all over theme parks? I wish I had moved the pram or taken it to customer services though.

Vagndidit · 31/03/2015 16:37

Op, care to name and shame at least the theme park. Am shocked at the attitudes all around, to be honest.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 31/03/2015 16:40

If they are still at the park, I would call the police anyway. They can decide how they want to deal with it, but you've just witnessed shocking neglect.

I would also like to avoid forever know the name of the park. Their attitude is really bad.

Catsize · 31/03/2015 16:41

A decent investigation would track them on CCTV all the way back to their car, assuming they came in one. Definitely report. The baby may not be so 'lucky' to go home with them next time they pull this stunt.

sparechange · 31/03/2015 16:44

Of course you can call the police!
