I've always felt a bit smug when there are floods because our house is on top of a hill....well not tonight. I sleep in the attic bedroom, and it is shaking like fuck up here. Should I do something or just ignore ? Its an old house, so I'm hoping guessing its managed to stay up this long....Confused

I'm also being shaken in a attic bedroom and dd has just woken me up to tell me she can't sleep Hmm

noarguments · 31/03/2015 03:18

Going to be some knackered people at work tomorrow. No sign of it calming down.

DramaQueenofHighCs · 31/03/2015 03:18

I'm listening to 'The Goons' on my iPhone. Would much rather do that upstairs in bed but it would wake up DH! (Plus he's never sympathetic when I can't sleep due to the wind. He's usually a lovely lovely man but this my reaction to the weather is pathetic so I no longer even try to get comfort from him! Sad )

Priceypizza · 31/03/2015 03:20

Yup, it's wild here ... Merseyside

DramaQueenofHighCs · 31/03/2015 03:20

Just looked on the MET office website - round here it's not meant to calm down til six o'clock ..... in the evening! [cry]

Ledkr You've reassured me a LOT. Im in a 3 storey detached victorian house on the top of a hill, I just wanted to hear that it is normal for attics to actually shake.I have mooched about the house but it sounds even worse down there - never heard anything like it. One of the vents is now just making the sound of someone playing a kazoo constantly without even taking a breath. Its all very bizarre Confused

We're end of terrace too and on top of a hill, but no trees that close by, luckily. Wind was howling round the house 20 mins ago but seems to have dropped a bit (London). Night Fred just done so I'm going to try & sleep again....

livsmommy · 31/03/2015 03:41

Kids all awake here but the caravan is rocking and shaking so much and soooo noisy, saying that DP snoring through it all Confused

marshmallowpies · 31/03/2015 03:42

Feed not Fred. Fred has nothing to do with it, don't blame him! Smile

thereinmadnesslies · 31/03/2015 03:46

Can't sleep either :( the wind is crazy

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 31/03/2015 03:49

Envy of people with DCs sleeping through it. I have been up twice with DD2, tried putting her in my bed but she wriggled and kicked so I have given warm milk and put her back in her cot. She shares with DD1 who was half awake and has school tomorrow, poor girl. It does sound like the roof is coming off so I am not surprised they are disturbed. I'm going to be knackered tomorrow.

stevienickstophat · 31/03/2015 03:53

Yorkshire here, it's blowing a gale.

Got earache and a million things on my mind so I'm in the kitchen curled up in the big chair next to the aga.

Keep safe everyone.

AliceAnneB · 31/03/2015 03:55

Joining you with a toddler woken by the crazy wind. We are in london and it's rocking and rolling. The bins are being blown around and the windows are shaking. Husband taken himself into spare room to spare himself the joy of toddler-feet-in-face. Older two kids are the only ones undisturbed.

nokidshere · 31/03/2015 03:59

Dh and 2 teens fast asleep here although goodness knows how! Power has been off at least 20 times since 2am!

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 31/03/2015 04:05

My DH is in the spare room too Alice. Though that's at the back and has no attic so must be really noisy.

4yo dd came in our bed around 1am but has since slept through it only waking to ask for a drink and if i'm going to work. Gonna have some coffee and toast then head to work without somehow being blown over. Hair straightening is not an option this morning!

moomoomummy · 31/03/2015 04:22

Hold on tight everyone! In Australia , no wind here. Hope you get some sleep.

Eastpoint · 31/03/2015 04:25

This is worrying me - dd1 is doing her dofe practice expedition in the Brecon Beacons. Hope their tent is ok.

I can hear the tiles rattling on the roof, the tree outside my window is threatening to come through the window poltergeist style!

nicecupofteaforme · 31/03/2015 04:29

Another one woken by the wind here... regretting having a mass clear out of DS bedroom yesterday and piling it all up outside ready to take to the tip.... its currently flying around the garden :( Shed door banging and too frightened to go out :(

startwig1982 · 31/03/2015 04:29

It's really noisy here. Have looked out of the window into the back garden and our trampoline is gone. Can't see any other damage yet.
