Hello all. I have 2 DC. DD is 2 years 3 months old and DS is 6 months old. DD has always been a great sleeper, always 12 hours at night and more if on growth spurt or ill. Until the last month she also slept for approx 2 hours in the afternoon. Although she seems tired and rubs her eyes she is no longer taking her afternoon nap now. If I put her down in her cot she is happy to sing, play and talk to herself but does not sleep. She gets plenty of exercise and stimulation so I assumed that she is just now no longer needing this as it is does not matter what time I put her down she does not sleep. However some friends (who are also parents) have said I should continue to try to put her down as she is too young to stop daytime napping and others have said I am lucky she napped for so long.

Could you please tell me when your toddler ceased daytime naps so I have a better view of what is expected? Many thanks.

At around 7 months! The only way I could get DD to nap after this was to put her in the back of the car and drive about. However she slept through for 10-12 hours at night. I was always jealous of friends whose DCs had a nap.Envy

I have twins. One stopped napping the week after she turned 2. The other one continued to take a two hour nap for another 6 months. Now at nearly 3 neither of them nap any more and it makes me sad. However my friends DD stopped naps at 12 months so it could have been worse.

I would continue to put her down if she is happy enough. Quiet time is always good for both child and parent. lol

DD1 stopped napping during the day when she was about 2.2yo.

Since dd was about 2yo, any daytime sleep has meant hours awake mucking around at bedtime so we stopped her napping. Given the choice she would probably have a 3hr nap after lunch and go to bed about 10pm.

About 4 months.. Helpful child doesn't need much sleep!
