just curious, i'm not really a political person but i can't remember ever seeing him looking 'normal' in a photo ! the camera always seems to catch him gurning, pulling strange expressions and the like ! i'm sad i know but it always makes me smile when i see one of him, i couldn't see him as a future prime minster to be taken seriously as a result, what do others think ? if he does get in perhaps they will have a department made for the ministry of silly facial expressions !!

I feel like a kindred spirit with him because I look bloody weird in every photo taken of me too. If I'm not blinking I have some odd facial expression that's come out of nowhere - some people are just really, really unphotogenic.

mioxx · 28/03/2015 08:31

Google images informs me there are a few neutral expressions, even a couple nice ones smiling. But yes, they are an awful lot of silly face ones.

Urghh.. I can't stand him, and without knowing much about politics I fear I am judging that on his silly faces!

seriouslypeedoff · 28/03/2015 08:54

I think he is just very unphotogenic. Although I do think the media delight in using the worst photos. I have to say. I wouldn't want to see a photo of me eating a bacon sarnie

mrsfuzzy · 28/03/2015 08:54

please would someone post a photo up ?? please, please, please ???

Trills · 28/03/2015 08:55

Some people have very mobile faces, so if you "freeze" them as they are talking their face always looks weird.

SaucyJack · 28/03/2015 08:57

Why does it matter?

He's a politician, not a Calvin Klein model. Let's judge him on his policies and not his looks.

It's not as if he's that amusingly ugly anyway,

seriouslypeedoff · 28/03/2015 09:03

Saucyjack for me, how he looks doesn't change what I think if his policies, and I don't think anyone has implied that it does change his policies. I wouldn't vote for the Labour party if Brad Pitt was heading it up.

However, its common thinking that this sort of stuff does effect some votes.

seriouslypeedoff · 28/03/2015 09:04

Posted too soon....looks shouldn't change the vote and wouldn't for me. But it can influence people, apparently.

OneFlewOverTheDodosNest · 28/03/2015 09:11

I think the media try to find the worst photos of him tbh. Yes he's not photogenic but when you get reels of photos there will be one or two ok ones!

It's a shame - I'm not a massive fan of his but it seems like a childish bullying to constantly portray someone badly/ worse than they actually are. And whilst some might think it's inconsequential there is proof that it genuinely changes how people vote.

HungryDam · 28/03/2015 09:14

It's the media - they just find the worst pics of him. If anything to me, he comes across more human

mrsfuzzy · 28/03/2015 09:14

sorry, this was only meant to be light hearted, i had a very bad night [family related] and i need cheering up ! no, looks do not sway most people, certainly not me.

OP posts:
mrsfuzzy · 28/03/2015 09:17

even so, i'm with seriously on this one, i'd never vote labour because of their love affair with spending money and wasting it so freely, instead of helping people who really need support in this country.

Look for Nathan the dancing Chinese crested dog on the YouTubes MrsFuzzy. Never fails to cheer me up.

passthecheese · 28/03/2015 09:27

I think he's just unphotogenic. In real life he is quite attractive. I was at a meeting with him and I could see the photos people were taking of him, all made him look weird or odd. In real life he is much better.

Can I just have it on record that I'm a labour voting seriously?Wink
I agree he's not photogenic.

SpinDoctorOfAethelred · 28/03/2015 10:57

I bet his family have loads of normal looking photographs of him.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 28/03/2015 11:00

It will definitely be a deliberate attempt to show him looking bad in the media.

limitedperiodonly · 28/03/2015 11:16

And this is you being lighthearted, is it?

catlover40 · 28/03/2015 11:18

I dont think he is any worse looking than any other politician! David Cameron is not good looking either! People pay too much heed to what a politician looks like as opposed to considering their intelligence and abilities!

LaurieFairyCake · 28/03/2015 11:19

I agree it looks bullying and it drives me nuts that the media focus on appearances so much - I just don't give a shiny shit about what any of them look like

Edsgreypatch · 28/03/2015 11:20

But his stupid expression is his normal expression.

AuntieStella · 28/03/2015 11:21

"Posted too soon....looks shouldn't change the vote and wouldn't for me. But it can influence people, apparently."

Yes, think of Michael Foot.

forago · 28/03/2015 11:21

not as bad as Farage with his horrible gurn and ubiquitous pint - is that bloke sponsored by the Real Ale Society?

Grantaire · 28/03/2015 11:27

I look awful in photographs. I look nothing like I do in RL. Thankfully, I don't have the media seizing this as evidence of my inability to do a job, people saying I look 'stupid' or accusing me of gurning.
