just curious, i'm not really a political person but i can't remember ever seeing him looking 'normal' in a photo ! the camera always seems to catch him gurning, pulling strange expressions and the like ! i'm sad i know but it always makes me smile when i see one of him, i couldn't see him as a future prime minster to be taken seriously as a result, what do others think ? if he does get in perhaps they will have a department made for the ministry of silly facial expressions !!

I think he looks like his face has melted and someone has unsuccessfully tried to push it all back into shape.

Don't forget that the right-wing elements of the media seem to delight in deliberately picking photos of EM that are, shall we put it, less than flattering."

It's what the media in general does, not exclusively the right wing. My bf at the time of the 97 election took huge delight in the Guardian and its deliberate and repeated publishing of photos of Tory politicians looking utterly ridiculous. Redwood with apparent alien antennae was one. I don't think we can turn this into poor Ed being targeted by the nasty rightwingers tbh.

Ed Miliband is a phony. He tries to pretend he doesn't 'play the media game' but he plays it more than any other party leader.

These strikes are wrong...

I totally sympathise with him because rare is the picture of me where I'm not gurning or looking unhinged. As others have said, i just don't think he has a face that the camera likes and probably pulls a lot of expressions which the camera then catches at just the wrong time.

Cameron is far plainer than Milliband but he probably has a more neutral expression most of the time, so he always looks roughly the same in pics.

Nick Clegg is very good looking but that doesn't mean that people think he is competent
