to wonder whether Jeremy Clarkson engineered his own demise at the BBC?

He did not have to report the "fracas" to his superiors but he chose to. Maybe, just maybe, he did not want to renew his contract next week but did not want to be seen to be walking away from a much-loved show. So he forces the BBC 's hand. He's now free to make other shows of his choosing, he's caused some mischief to the BBC and his fans will follow him elsewhere.

Yes, agree with you onethird, Jeremy Clarkson is what he is but personally, I don't like what this incident shows him to be.

what makes me wonder (and sorry if someone else has said this, i cant read all the posts) is when the incident happened why didnt anyone call the police there and then, and medical help?

Why did jeremy tell the BBC and not hand himself in to the police for assault?

why didnt the producer? he took himself to A& E didnt he?

and why wasnt jeremy arrested straight away for assault?

I actually posted that on the MN FB page. Perhaps there is a clause in the contract of sale that he can't start another motoring show, unless he is fired from BBC.....

I guess we'll see soon. I'm fairly sure the three of them would get a good deal for a show in the US.
