Or is DH over cleaning bathtub?

DH wears a pair of rubber crocs as indoor slippers. Today he had walked outside in them so they were covered in mud and he was trailing mud all over the house (we live on a farm with very clay soil). When I pointed this out to him he said he would wash the crocs in the bathtub, which seemed odd to me as it would make a mess he would then have to clean. He said he would clean it all.

He washed the mud off in the tub then run clear water over it until there was no sign of mud. AIBU to have wanted him to use cleaning products? He was surprised to hear this was necessary and refused to do it on the grounds the tub looked clean.

We both believe the man in the Clapham omnibus would agree with us, so who is right? Disgusting or analy retentive?

YABU.

However, he is BU for wearing crocs.

I agree with you OP. I often rinse muddy wellies in the bath tub and then give the bath tub a quick spray.

eyebags63 · 25/03/2015 13:23

yabu, just rinse it off really, come on.

YABU. But it seems a lot if other posters are too. Marketing works well it seems making many believe germs are gonna get us! So unhealthy using all those Anti-bac spray products for every little thing.

How do you know he didn't use cleaning products - did you spy on him?

FenellaFellorick · 25/03/2015 16:41

He wears crocs.

Although I agree with him, I'm voting for you, just for that.

I'd probably think differently if the mud was caked on the bath and needed scrubbing but as it is, it was washed straight off the shoes down the plug hole. I don't see how it can have contaminated the bath sufficiently to be a big deal.

Booboostoo · 25/03/2015 17:26

Of course I stood there and watched the whole thing, otherwise I wouldn't even know he hadn't cleaned the bath. You have to keep a very close eye on crocsock wearers.

Lock the door and don't open it until he takes his dirty crocs off and puts some clean ones on.
