Or is DH over cleaning bathtub?

DH wears a pair of rubber crocs as indoor slippers. Today he had walked outside in them so they were covered in mud and he was trailing mud all over the house (we live on a farm with very clay soil). When I pointed this out to him he said he would wash the crocs in the bathtub, which seemed odd to me as it would make a mess he would then have to clean. He said he would clean it all.

He washed the mud off in the tub then run clear water over it until there was no sign of mud. AIBU to have wanted him to use cleaning products? He was surprised to hear this was necessary and refused to do it on the grounds the tub looked clean.

We both believe the man in the Clapham omnibus would agree with us, so who is right? Disgusting or analy retentive?

And actually your DH is being unreasonable for wearing crocs in the first place.

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 25/03/2015 11:08

He wore crocs.

He wore crocs outside.

Shock

Fuck the bath, you have enough grounds for divorce in my book. LTB.

Great minds, SayCool

addictedtosugar · 25/03/2015 11:09

Slattern here.

We only use cleaning products in the bath after an epposode of D&V or DS2 pooing in the bath. We found the cleaners agrivated eczema, even with liberal rinsing.

I do mould and mildew the shower tho.

I think, given the poo possibility, some cleaner might be worth while.
But why did he wear them outside? And is he applying cleaning products to the floors as well? And any carpets????
He needs another pair of crocs. Old pair relegated to the back door for occasional outside trips (bins out etc), and a new pair for inside the house.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 25/03/2015 11:13

Grin YesIdid

addicted - more than one pair of crocs??!!

Hobby2014 · 25/03/2015 11:14

Am I right in thinking crocs can go in the washing machine? or did I dream it? misses point totally

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 25/03/2015 11:15

Hip by - or on the bonfire...

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 25/03/2015 11:16

Sodding iPad.

OTheHugeManatee · 25/03/2015 11:19

YABU, unless he had dog shit on his shoes. Otherwise I think rinsing is fine.

42andcounting · 25/03/2015 11:22

I'm clearly odd because I wouldn't even have allowed him to clean them in the bath. I keep brushes, cloths and dilute disinfectant in the porch for outside cleaning of dog poo on pram wheels or very dirty shoes. We also have a no shoes in the house rule. Am aware that I will now have lots of people telling me I'm obsessed, but my 17mo DD likes to lick stuff so I do try to minimise the amount of nasty she ingests..... Smile

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 25/03/2015 11:25

Crocs are acceptable on children under the age of 10.

Possibly also just about acceptable when camping. Maybe.

The ballet pump crocs are ok, and if you're a nurse or similar, ok, but otherwise any of them with the holes in are not acceptable for wear either in or outside the house.

SayCoolNowSayWhip · 25/03/2015 11:26

Under the age of 5.

No holes of any kind.

Ballet shoe crocs? What heinous Frankensteinian creation is this??

Fullpleatherjacket · 25/03/2015 11:27

YANBU but if he thinks it's OK let him use the bath and plant his arse on any residual (even if microscopic) detritus first.

These are the ballet style things, SayCool. Better than the holey ones. Slightly.

Discopanda · 25/03/2015 11:41

I think YANBU, God knows what he could have trodden in! I have a slight obsession with having a clean bath, I grew up being told that you can't get clean in a dirty bathroom and even when I lived with my slob of an ex I made sure the bathroom was clean, regardless of the state of the rest of the flat!

addictedtosugar · 25/03/2015 11:49

Ok.
He needs 2 new pairs of shoes.
One slipper pair for inside only
One easy to slip on and off suitable for taking the rubish out.

Crocs not required.

addictedtosugar · 25/03/2015 11:51

except I REALLY like that first link Yes
I'll leave the thread now Blush

Untrevive · 25/03/2015 11:57

Yadnbu!

Booboostoo · 25/03/2015 11:58

I cleaned the floors - we have a cleaner and I do whatever extra is needed, DH doesn't bother with cleaning as apparently he doesn't mind the dirt.

To be fair I don't mind the animal poo as such, it's a bit unavoidable when you live with all the animals.

I would have sprayed it. However i spray my bath a few times a day anyway because the fucking bastarding cat likes to shit in it Hmm so to me spraying and cleaning the bath is no big effort and would give me peace of mind. In your case though i doubt products were necesary.

SurlyCue · 25/03/2015 12:00

I also have crocs for outside and birkenstock clogs for inside. Blush

Booboostoo · 25/03/2015 12:03

He wears crocs all year round, rather fetchingly with socks in the winter. He is incapable of changing shoes at the door even though his shoes/crocs live by the door, so he constantly trailing mud in the house.

In retrospect stapling the thread to his forehead is not good enough, I will DIY lobotomize with it.

Kitsandkids · 25/03/2015 12:13

To be honest, I would neither have noticed nor cared how he washed them as long as the bath was left clean looking when he had finished. Did you stand and watch him while he was doing it? I would just have been pleased it wasn't me having to do any cleaning and let him get on with it.

Anyway, next time you have a bath you'll put bubble bath or something in won't you, so that will clean any residue!

(I am also very firmly in the slattern corner! Grin)

YesIDidMeanToBeSoRudeActually · 25/03/2015 12:14

Crocs with socks?!

Quite the catch, isn't he?
