People that everyone knows on mumsnet. Do you remember posters names?

OP posts:
BasinHaircut · 21/03/2015 07:12

Ohh Maryz actually I visualise you a bit too. Not to the same extent as sparkling though, it's much more vague.

You have beautifully flawless black skin, you are wearing bluey-green, and you are Irish.

Mehitabel6 · 21/03/2015 07:18

If you are on threads a lot with the same people, they post a lot, and they hold very set views, then you can spot the name change. You know which threads will attract them.

Reality!

You won't remember me- I was a dipper inner, not ft Grin

But I remember your sterling work on the Sister Wife Bolt Gun thread

CakeUpWall · 21/03/2015 08:31

Reality is categorically the most MN-famous poster ever.

Moln · 21/03/2015 09:00

I haven't name changed in donkeys (did at the beginning in due to novelty factor) but now I don't need to name change as I do nothing to warrant being noticeable. I like it like that.

Though a lot of the time I'm called Moin (obviously vastly different to actual user name) with such frequency I do wonder if there had been an infamous Moin at one point.

LynetteScavo · 21/03/2015 09:07

I still think of Greeny and DevilWearPrimark as being famous.

Tbh I don't often look at a posters name!

Hullygully · 21/03/2015 09:10

I was sulking until about page 6, Reality. Then I decided it was a good lesson in the ephemerality of all things. Ommm.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/03/2015 09:21

Being recognised isn't all that. I post many friendly.supportive posts every day about all sorts of stuff but there will always be some tosseur who comes along and says they remember me because I had an argument about SN (happens a few times a year) and that am always arguing. Categorically not true. Name changing does appeal. Although once did and was totally torn apart for slightest thing which was a bit scary.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/03/2015 09:23

Anonymity without seeming to be total newbie who is fodder for AIBU vultures is way to go.

HoneySwampDragonInMourning · 21/03/2015 09:23

Reality had the longest pregnancy everâ„¢

Elephants gestated for shorter periods.

HoVis2001 · 21/03/2015 09:30

I have a 'base' username (this one) and a few alternative usernames for when I'm saying anything that would be really identifiable. I started doing that after reading on threads about MNers with detective skills PMing people their real names to demonstrate how much you end up giving away. Mostly I don't want my own mother reading a thread and going "oh! So Hovis is...." Confused

The names that stick in my head most are AnyFucker, Worra, expatinscotland, and the various incarnations of Buffy. Smile

LikeIcan · 21/03/2015 09:47

Oi,
Drown your sorrows in that Wine then get back to using MN like the rest of us. Be thankful you were famous once but embrace your future mediocrity with courage. You were MN trailblazers and should feel very proud of what you achieved ( even if it wasn't very much ) so go on, get back out there.

HappydaysArehere · 21/03/2015 10:13

PigletJohn. I have seen posters asking for him. Another talking about his fame and how his advice should be acknowledged in some way. He appears to be in the construction industry and is a mine of information.

ThatBloodyWoman · 21/03/2015 10:21

I especially like those who are so consistently helpful to others:

^^ PigletJohn for every time we have a practical problem.
flowery for her great employment law advice
mrsmorton for all our tooth woes.
AnyFucker who I have observed following up on people on the relationships board, and showing genuine concern as to their rl outcome.

And Sparkling is just a diamond.Never gets narky -always thinks of not hurting others and really calming down threads that are turning a bit fighty at times.

Flowers for you all.

ThatBloodyWoman · 21/03/2015 10:25

Also Buffy who works hard to make the feminist boards accessible to all.

BIWI · 21/03/2015 10:59

RatherBeOnThePiste and KnottyLocks should get a special mention for everything they do with Woolly Hugs. I don't think they post here as much as they used to, simply because Woolly Hugs is so time-consuming.

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 21/03/2015 11:32

The names that stick in my mind Are
Eat shit Derek
Writerwannabe83
Cheerful yank
Tea1sugAr
Any fucker.
Don't know why

ThatBloodyWoman · 21/03/2015 11:42

Yy BIWI.

Alisvolatpropiis · 21/03/2015 11:46

I've noticed that fanjo. People also seem to like to tell you to "calm down" etc, when you've not said anything dramatically different to anybody else on the thread in question who is of a similar opinion.

magimedi · 21/03/2015 11:55

Well posted BIWI

And I'd like to put in a mention for Ohyoubadbadkitten & all the work she does on the weather thread.

And Poltergoose for all her contributions to the SN section - a place I thankfully don't need to post in but read regularly & have learnt a lot from.

Littlefrenchmummy · 21/03/2015 12:31

I often notice cogitoergosometimes. Sometimes I see a thread - always in relationships - and I know she will have commented. And Im always right! She gives good advice.

fanjoforthemammaries7850 · 21/03/2015 15:53

Yes it gets a bit wearing Alis. Maybe a name change is in order even as experiment.

Arsenic · 21/03/2015 16:00

'Bit wearing'Fanjo? Really? Slight over-reaction maybe? Hmm

Bambambini · 21/03/2015 16:18

I think you get a much easier ride if you are recognised and fairly popular. Fed up seeing threads where several more unrecognisable posters give advice and then the like of Pagwatch or Anyfucker comes along and says the exact same thing only to have a trail of "yy to Pag or AF" - trying to sail online on their popular coat tails. This isn't against Pag or Anyfucker but the sycophants who seem to follow them around.
