It's ok dexra, everyone looses their shit from time to time Grin

Tbh i find txt very hard being dyslexic. Do know the difference between lose and loose (see grin) but struggle with a few very similar ones. I have to mentally check country and county every time for example. Makes life more interesting and certainly beneficial. Had many a laugh with people over it. No ones perfect. I find it a Great ice breaker! Love the english language as its always changing. My dad gets upset if you use the word brilliant to mean good as he knows it to mean a brightness in a bulb. We have all had huge family discussion re words. See dyslexic is a huge benefit and a massive gift!!!! Also suspect my ipad has a from of dyslexic as it randomly puts capitals into words!!!!

QueenBean · 19/03/2015 10:11

This is not as bad as misuse of "myself"

"Come and see myself if you have any other questions"

londonrach · 19/03/2015 10:12

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 19/03/2015 10:14

Pedants corner is a topic you can post in about grammar/spelling etc. and be joined by your fellow pedants Grin

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe2726 · 19/03/2015 10:17

It's alright OP, I've reported your post for you so that MNHQ can guide you to paradise... and shove you in the dungeon of doom that is Pedants Corner.

Lancelottie · 19/03/2015 10:17

Noooo, Puds11! Round here (publishing house) b/w means black and white (rather than colour).

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 19/03/2015 10:20

Lying Grin

Lance, possibly two meanings?

Lancelottie · 19/03/2015 10:23

I can imagine the next excuse from the typesetters: 'Oh, you wanted it black and white? WE thought you wanted it stuck between the other two photos...'

echt · 19/03/2015 10:23

I think you'll find that all the thick teachers are to blame, leaving at 3.30.p.m., long holidays, whinging, entitled fuckers.

Pastamancer · 19/03/2015 10:28

You affect something which causes an effect. A comes before e in the alphabet if that helps you remember the difference.

Icimoi · 19/03/2015 10:34

I don't really understand why it is such a common misspelling, given that the pronunciation of "loose" and "lose" is significantly different.

derxa · 19/03/2015 10:34

I except that I am a pedant. However banishing me to a dark cell seems a bit harsh, I should of thought.

OP posts:
squoosh · 19/03/2015 10:39

I think they revoke citizenship of Pedant Land if you mistake 'except' for 'accept'.

derxa · 19/03/2015 10:42

Maybe I'm the acception.

OP posts:
londonrach · 19/03/2015 10:43

Thanks pasta. Am i right in saying you affected my understanding! Its an effect that should last.

OfaFrenchMind · 19/03/2015 10:44

I still cannot deal with loose and lose. I am sorry, I tried to learn English as best as I could, but those two words really mystify me. I always have to ask my colleagues for correct spelling.
Sorry!!!

SaucyJack · 19/03/2015 10:45

Your being very rude Derxa. Good manors cost nothing. I think you have some issues you need to talk threw with a councillor.

squoosh · 19/03/2015 10:48

Enraged though? Isn't it more eye rolling territory than enraged territory?

There should be a special punishment for the exaggerators.
