not like I don't go out without looking perfect or anything

just I thik, ive started to notice how much more confident I feel and how much nicer people are to me when I look good

I can be lazy somedays I just want to wear baggy/scruffy clothes and basically can't be arsed, put my hair up and wear my glasses

I think I should really feel just as confident when I don't look as good, but is this unrealistic

should I just try and embrace the fact that you can actually make yourself look a lot better with little effort really

yes it is interesting that the man on the thread talked about his wifes appearance rather than his own
and I agree if it was a woman in politics they get scrutinised about appearance, and its much easier for men, with short hair and suits

perhaps I am also a bit of a slob to be honest

Always just FEEL yuk if my hair is greasy. Don't know if thats a conditioned response TapW? Could be. But its certainly ingrained.

The thing is, it probably isn't greasy. Humans are a lot cleaner than nature intended. Spotlessly clean hair isn't something we should have * It's a bit like people liking the "clean scent" you get with laundry. It's not really a clean scent, as no scent is the cleanest scent" but we are conditioned to see it that way

  • I'm not saying you shouldn't wash your hair btw!

I feel more confident when my clothes are soft. Uncomfortable fabrics almost distress me and make me wriggle and scratch. Buying clothes for 'big dos' is a challenge because I like floaty silks rather than fitted dresses and sometimes a shapeless dress doesn't cut it.

My most confident days would be those spent in fabrics that caress my skin, with clean bouncy, product-free hair.
