I know there will be a number of threads today about how rubbish a Mother's day people have had, or saying they expected more of a fuss to be made. AIBU to start a thread asking for your good feel stories from today, surely not all DP's are thoughtless or wrong in what they have done for the day Grin. I will start it off- yesterday I bought new dresses for my 2 Dd's and took them to get there photo taken then put them in a mummy photo frame, I bought my wife a new dress, tights and boots (cheap but thoughtful) and got a balloon and card then the girls gave it to her, we then got a takeaway and chilled for the evening. Tell me of your good stories from this morning Smile .

Lovely homemade card from my 14 year old DS he probably forgot to buy one Grin - DH went out early to get me a newspaper to read in bed. Smile. DH and DS cooked a lovely breakfast and now I am looking forward to my own parents coming round for a meal so we can all celebrate together - sadly no ILs left.

I had a bacon butty in bed, a homemade card and pressie from DD 2, a card and pressie from DD 1 and DH bought me a tub of spring flowers that I had mentioned liking on the market yesterday. On the sofa when I got up there are two new cushions with owls on, that they all chose for me (we all like owls). We just took my DM and DSis out for lunch and now the girls are doing their homework, DH is pottering in the garage and I am mning and drinking tea, so a lovely day. I feel very lucky to have a lovely thoughtful DH and a close family. It's nice to be able to post this and feel happy, as mn has made me feel a bit guilty today. I do a lot for everyone else, and its nice to feel appreciated and loved Smile

Ds, 7 making me toast and marmite and popping it on a tray with my ipad and glasses Smile

My ds (4) made me a lovely cupcake, sweets and a photo frame with an I love mum picture in it, when he stayed at my lovely mums house on Friday night, which he gave to me yesterday afternoon with a cheery "happy mothers day!". She also helped him pick a balloon for me. I gave her her presents (photo frame with picture of me as child in, and money to treat herself in card, her birthday was earlier in the week and the flowers I got her then still okay or she would have gotten flowers too). Ds and I played a few boardgames. He then went to stay with dp's mum. She is taking him out with her mum today, (with her brothers and sisters and their grandkids) so I got a lie in. Went round to see him for a bit before they left and get some mothers day kisses and cuddles. Walked dog, then opened the presents dp helped ds get, some money in a card, lovely flowers, chocolate and two books (one of which I've been dying to read for ages). Dp is at work, so have the house to myself. Going to make a cuppa, eat my cupcake and read my book until ds and dp get home. Left my mum a facebook message at 12.00 last night, but haven't spoken to her today. Her first year without my gran, and she had already said she just wanted to spend the day in bed because she knew it would be hard on her. Will give a ring tomorrow to see how she is.

Mine's been great so far. DD1 (13) and DD2 (8) got up early (6.40 and spent 5 hours!) to make me a whole heap of things - drop scones, muffins and flapjacks with a printed menu and homemade bag for my presents with a lovely poem. DD1 burnt 4 of her fingers but didn't say until she was all done Shock and washed/tidied away everything they had used.

DS1 (18) has made a cake for afternoon tea and is currently cutting vegetables while DH does the roast :) Later I shall have a lovely bath with a new book and maybe some chocolate.

AugustRose · 15/03/2015 16:42

Oh yes and DS2 (4) made me some flowers at nursery and then sat at the table like he was in a cafe ordering his cakes !! He had fun too.

wickedlazy · 15/03/2015 16:45

Forgot, dp met me in his mums last night after work, so he could give ds flowers to give to me "mummy, close your eyes! Now look!" The rest was already hidden in our house. So will have to put books etc back in bag when ds gets home, so he can give me those too Grin

BathshebaDarkstone · 15/03/2015 16:45

I got a handmade card from DS 3.5, a card and a box of Guylian seashells from him and DD 7.5. That's enough for me. Smile

ThisFenceIsComfy · 15/03/2015 16:50

My toddler gave me my card and said "Happy Day!". I feel really ill but he has made it a lovely day just because he is great Smile

LBOCS · 15/03/2015 16:51

DH followed his instructions perfectly, I got a lay in, followed by coffee and a bacon baguette in bed, a bunch of tulips and a bottle of salted caramel liquor.

I also got a lovely surprise in that my DSS chose to make me a card himself, which I was really touched by.

It was always going to be a bitter-sweet day as my own DM passed away in October so DSis has come over and we're having roast lamb together. She also bought me a lovely bunch of flowers and a card - also unexpected. Not so difficult a day as it could have been, so far.

DorothyBastard · 15/03/2015 16:57

I have been hoping for a nice Mothers' Day thread today, some lovely stories here. I had a lie in (well until 8am as DH is working today), and breakfast bought to me in bed, by DH and an enthusiastic 2yo who burst in shouting "happy birthday!" DH had also coached her to say "you're the best mummy in whole world!" which made me a bit watery eyed.

I had a lovely card, box of posh chocs, bunch of lovely flowers, and gin & tonic flavoured bubble bath (an pregnant so not really drinking).

Then my parents, DB, DSIL, and two DNeices came round and I cooked lunch. All in all a lovely day Smile

PoppyFleur · 15/03/2015 17:05

Woke up to DS (3) being poorly with bout of D&V all over bed, duvet, pj's, pillow and stuffed toy.....a slightly traumatised cat was cowering in the corner unharmed but clearly shocked! DH sprung out of bed, cleared up child and then helped me clear up room (at 6am).

By 7am DS was freshly showered & holding a lovely handmade card, whilst DH carried tray of tea & crumpets. We never thought we would be lucky enough to have DS now can't imagine life without him. Not even D&V can take the shine off cuddles, home made card & the fairy cakes we made together this afternoon.

I think my dm had a lovely day. Took dm and df out to a national trust property with dh. Got her a tree for her garden and a card. Dm was given some flowers there from the national trust which was very thoughtful. We had something to eat there. Dsis coming later (had to visit dmil and dfil) with dh and dc. Pity i missed them. Dm got book she wanted and cArd from dsis. Next year im hoping i have a dc! If thats the case just have dc would made mothers day the best day ever!!!!

Cocolepew · 15/03/2015 17:33

DD1 is 17 and got me a new Blondie tshirt.
DD2 is 13 and got me 3 mini Cath Kidson handcreams and a box of Malteasers.
In her card DD2 has written, " I love you with all my butt. I would say heart but my butt is bigger" Grin

I get to choose the takeaway pizza! I'm going to try somewhere new DS, who has AS, hates change but won't moan today and I get to order one for myself with anchovies on. DH loathes them. Wink
