AIBU to start a good thread about Mother's day? (light-hearted)

I know there will be a number of threads today about how rubbish a Mother's day people have had, or saying they expected more of a fuss to be made. AIBU to start a thread asking for your good feel stories from today, surely not all DP's are thoughtless or wrong in what they have done for the day Grin. I will start it off- yesterday I bought new dresses for my 2 Dd's and took them to get there photo taken then put them in a mummy photo frame, I bought my wife a new dress, tights and boots (cheap but thoughtful) and got a balloon and card then the girls gave it to her, we then got a takeaway and chilled for the evening. Tell me of your good stories from this morning Smile .

I got to stay in bed whilst dh took the toddler downstairs, then I got tea and toast in bed and my card and I've got a box of chocolates in the fridge.

Oh and I've not had to change any nappies yet today! Grin

derxa · 15/03/2015 11:11

My eldest son bought me a card and a bunch of flowers. Last Sunday!!!
Bless him and love him.

AGrinWithoutACat · 15/03/2015 11:18

DS has added to my collection of Viking jewellery with the clay broach he made in school as part of his topic work (had the same from DD1 2 years ago!) home made cards from both DD1 and DS and warm baby snuggles from DD2.

It's my birthday as well today celebrated with new Asterix books from the DC's (ready for tonight's bedtime stories - no self interest in choosing presents there at all!) Grin

MoominKoalaAndMiniMoom · 15/03/2015 11:23

I thought it was going to be a bad one, OH told me when I went to bed last night that he hadn't had time to get me anything and it's my first mother's day.

Woke up to a bowl of cereal and a cup of tea in bed, with cuddles from DD who has made me a beautiful card and a little salt dough charm with 'I love you' and her thumb print in it.

And now OH is making a lovely roast dinner for us all, and I've had amazing cuddles with my baby and am categorically refusing to do any uni work today. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world Grin

Enormouse · 15/03/2015 11:26

Smile at all of these.

It's my birthday today too. I had a lie in and 13 month old DS2 did not do his usual 2am wake up call. I got a cup of tea in bed, a bar of galaxy and a little bunch of flowers from the DSes. Dp has got me a pop vinyl figure of the winter soldier as a token gift and we'll be going for a meal sometime next week.

SauvignonBlanche · 15/03/2015 11:28

I've had some hideous flowers, a Lush bath bar and some Hotel Chocolat chocolates!! Grin
DH suggested getting the M&S roast after watching their advert the other night. I said 'no way' as I'd knew how much mess they'd make and how stressy it would be so we'll get a takeaway pizza for dinner.

Nameochangeo1234567 · 15/03/2015 11:29

Last year I was pregnant with my first dc, and I was very hormonal and selfishly complaining to my infertile friend that I think dp should get me a Mother's Day card. On the morning the post arrived and she'd sent me a card wishing me a happy Mother's Day and wrote amazing words about how much of a great mother I'd be ect..
Was the most touching thing anyone had ever done for me!

Smoorikins · 15/03/2015 11:30

Mother's day hasn't been mentioned, but I was awake at 5am to watch the Australian grand Prix - f1 stated today - that's my good news story! Best gift this mum is going to get (although with just 15 starters, 11 finishers and a full race, it could have been better...)

Smoorikins · 15/03/2015 11:30

Dull race! Not full.

CatsCantTwerk · 15/03/2015 11:48

Normal day here really. I would not want it any other way.
No card from dd (13)
No card from ds (17) although he still might turn up with one (really just wanting sunday dinner Grin )
Lovely hand made card and a handmade keyring beautifully wrapped from ds (9).

The best thing about today so far has been a text from MIL...

MIL: Thanks love for the cards and plant, what is the plant name. love you x
Me: I named it Geoff but You can rename it if you like.
MIL: Geoff it is!

I love her Grin

Nocturne123 · 15/03/2015 11:48

Dh got me a card and a book and drew around Dcs tiny hands in the card. They're far too young to understand what's going on but it was lovely.

AmyElliotDunne · 15/03/2015 11:49

Dp snuck out of bed quietly to let me have a lie in. I texted him downstairs when I was awake and got a cup of tea brought up, along with gifts from the dcs and two cards, one from DS1 addressed 'dear birth-giver' with the written message "basically this" and an arrow pointing at the printed message inside!

The other card from all of them had lovely heartfelt messages in it and dp also told me all the ways in which I'm a wonderful mum Smile

Went out for breakfast and now lounging around instructing the DCs to find something to keep them busy so that I don't have to concentrate on their incessant tales of minecraft and can switch off my brain for the day.

crazylady12 · 15/03/2015 11:53

My other half is useless came to my mum's to see her and she had a pandora charm and some bath bombs off the children for me she's amazing.

LokiBear · 15/03/2015 12:05

My dd had chicken pox. I've been up all night with her. DH was kicked out of the bedroom so that she could sleep with me so we are all exhausted. No presents for me due to dd being too ill to be taken shopping by daddy yesterday. She did make me a lovely card at nursery though. Best gift I could get is for her to feel better.

LokiBear · 15/03/2015 12:05

Has not had

aprilanne · 15/03/2015 13:17

today is a good day because my son,s not argueing .my hubby feeling a bit better .(long term severe illness).i got flowers /bath smellies .and best off all i got the teenagers to give me a kiss .now that is a result

Charlotte3333 · 15/03/2015 13:26

My 4 year old wrote me his first ever card, all by himself. And it was legible! That's the absolute highlight of Mothers Day.

DS1 was up at 3, 4 and 6am with a migraine and puked on my bed. Life goes on!

TheFairyCaravan · 15/03/2015 13:35

DS1(20) couldn't make it home (he's in the army) so DS2 (18) is spoiling me rotten on behalf of them both.

He brought me breakfast in bed. They bought me a new charm for my Pandora bracelet and a few bunches of daffodils, DS2 made me cry with the words he wrote in my card. DS1 rang me to wish me Happy Mothers Day and DS2 has just got a huge peach and raspberry upsidedown cake out of the oven. I think he has realised he will be away at uni next year so is banking a lot of mothers days all in one IYSWM!

butterfly2015 · 15/03/2015 13:38

Dd 1 looked after dd2 last night so we could go out for the evening.

I was a bit drunk. I got a lie in, cards from the kids, coffee and paracetamol in bed and oh is cooking a roast.

Bliss.

missybct · 15/03/2015 13:44

I had an unexpected card and flowers from my stepson - although he prefers to think of me as "my best friend" (which suits me) - he's nearly 6. I know Daddy had a hand to do with it, mainly because SS had to be coerced into buying Mummy a card and flowers - never mind me! Grin

Flingingmelon · 15/03/2015 13:47

DH and DS are doing ALL the cooking today with no more than a wee bit of (requested) advice from me. First time in over a decade - heaven!

DeladionInch · 15/03/2015 13:54

Did the flowers-in-church thing now dp's buggered off to his mum with toddler ds and I'm spending the day on thecsofa crocheting :o

Marshy · 15/03/2015 14:48

I'm having a lovely day.

Woke pain free at 8.30 which was fab as ive had excruciating sciatica for 3 weeks. Opened a card which arrived yesterday from dd at uni. It was lovely and made me cry.

Dh brought me coffee and toast in bed and painkillers. He does this everyday. I texted my step dils and my 4 good friends to tell them what fab mums they are. Then I read and listened to the radio in bed whilst dh prepped the dinner for later.

I got up and we went to put flowers on my mum's grave. It will be 2 years on 15th April since she died and I miss her every day.

When we got back there was a lovely card and an orchid waiting for me on the kitchen table from ds 17, and he was up and about.

I sat with ds mending his school bag whilst he tidied out my sewing box for me. We had a nice time. Dh was downstairs cleaning the kitchen floor cos the cat had been sick under the table.

Dh and ds have gone out for a run. They are in training for a 10k in aid of macmillan. I'm just about to go back to work after several months off following a mastectomy.

I'm on the sofa with the cat in front of a lovely fire. Dh will cook a nice dinner later.

Life is good. I'm very lucky.

iammargesimpson · 15/03/2015 15:23

These are lovely, what a great thread :)

Got some tulips (my favourite flowers), chocs and a new 'mum' mug from my two ds and my dh got me a voucher for my favourite craft shop. Off to my mum's for dinner later, made her lemon drizzle cake (her favourite) and got her a big box of wildflower seeds for her garden.

Dh working but the boys have been great, extra cuddles, so a good day :)

RaspberryLemonPavlova · 15/03/2015 15:35

I got a card and coffee/crumpets and flowers. Happy Mum.

I got back from church to find DD had taken in an M&S delivery of flowers, with our address but some-one else's name. I rang M & S this afternoon, who have told me to keep them with their compliments for Mothers' Day and they will sort out delivery to the correct recipient. I hope they get them soon!
