Its just that I won't have time to change and its a lot better value than getting mua, all of whom have been booked up.

Is this a crazy idea? Will wear a hairdresser cloak to stop spills.

I will have a trial with same person first.

you are joking?

Skiptonlass · 09/03/2015 18:53

Are you trying to get the make up lady to do it for free?

If so, yes, unreasonable. If you're paying her, on you go.

Gunpowder · 09/03/2015 18:53

I think as long as you book it's a clever idea! I think I'd change into my dress in the dept. store loo though, jic.

maggiethemagpie · 09/03/2015 18:54

ha ha, I thought of doing this, what I am going to do instead though is get the wedding makeover at the counter beforehand (free) and get the MUA to teach me how to do it myself, I will buy the products so I can still use them afterwards, and then practice on my own in the run up to the wedding. It can't be that hard is my reasoning!

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 18:54

I will be paying for product. Apparently its common practice. Its the bit about the wedding dress I'm concerned about

When I was a bridesmaid buying makeup the Clinique lady offered to do it on the morning of the wedding, for free. I would have done it if I had time.

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 18:55

Not joking!

YABU.
How do you know they will do your make up? You are hardly there as a potential customer are you if you rock up in a wedding dress.

If you are going to do a piss take like this then go in normal clothes. Be prepared to be made up in a way you really don't like.

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 18:58

cantbelieve I said this is common practise. I discussed with make up counter first. I will need to buy products of course.

I went to John Lewis on the morning of my wedding, I was booked in with Benefit but ended up with Chanel as Benefit girl missed her train.

I wasn't in my dress though, I got changed in the hotel afterwards.

I did buy the products so not totally cheeky.

UngratefulMoo · 09/03/2015 19:00

I did what maggiethemagpie is planning. Worked great. I am now a Bobbi Brown convert so I spend a lot more on make-up than I used to, however.

Cantbelievethisishappening · 09/03/2015 19:02

I was typing my comment when you posted erin
If it's common practice why are you asking then?

Flipchart · 09/03/2015 19:04

I've done similar. I've had an appointment at Bobbi Brown and then gone to the hotel to change and within the hour been sat at a restaurant on a do.
I have told the MUA what the do is, what clothes I'm going to be wearing and what style I would like my make up. I've also told her hat stuff I've already got in the range so I'm not buying similar twice.

I don't buy everything just a few key pieces.

Think rocking up in a dress and veil might be a bit extreme though!

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 19:05

Its the dress bit! Like in a full gown. I don't know if I'm being unreasonable about that! Silky, I know. Just wondered if anyone has heard of such a thing.

SaucyJack · 09/03/2015 19:05

I think jeans would be safer.

OhisHOME · 09/03/2015 19:06

I'm going to a wedding on Saturday and doing this as I'm a bit crap at more than the basics! Benefit do it for free when you buy two products and I need mascara anyway

Weebirdie · 09/03/2015 19:06

I think it would be too much on the day in your dress even if nothing was spilt on it, but I do think it would be ok to go and have it done before getting changed. Make and appt though.

Suefla62 · 09/03/2015 19:07

God, some people are just incredibly cheap and tacky.

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 19:08

I have an appointment. Have discussed it with counter. Am not a pisstaker as I will need to buy product.

expatinscotland · 09/03/2015 19:08

YABU.

What if they make you up to look like a clown?

Just hire someone or do it yourself.

Never heard of anyone doing this. How embarrassing.

OhisHOME · 09/03/2015 19:08

Definitely wouldn't go in dress unless it's not very wedding dressy I have images of you looking like your lost! Surely you put your dress on at the last minute! Can you not book an early slot then go back to hotel/home to get dressed.

Hellohellohowareyou · 09/03/2015 19:08

I would be more worried about something dropping onto the dress, foundation etc

erinscupcake · 09/03/2015 19:08

Thanks sue would you care to explain, which part?
