My friend has brought her 3 year old a TV to have in his bedroom as a present. I think this is terrible! AIBU?

OP posts:

YANBU to think it's terrible, but not your kid, not your concern.

FWIW my 3yo has one, no aerial though so just watches DVD's, she plays a lot in her room and sometimes likes the TV on. No big deal, we still control what she watches and it's no different in my eyes to her playing in the living room with the TV on.

It's fine to judge this here! I have no business with facebook posts about a US wedding with a crazy Bridezilla but it doesn't stop me or anyone else from judging them on here.

MN is my favourite place for some good judging, actually. Grin

countessmarkyabitch · 02/03/2015 21:36

I wouldn't do it. Couldn't give a bollocks what anyone else does.

ObsidianEagle · 02/03/2015 21:36

Im getting a sense of deja vu

i'm sure there was a thread about tv's in kids bedrooms last week or so!

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2015 21:36

Anyone shouted 'house' yet? Grin My card's nearly full....

Only1scoop · 02/03/2015 21:38

Only1scoop · 02/03/2015 21:38

Be it of course a "house" minus a tv in 3 yo bedroom Wink

usualsuspect333 · 02/03/2015 21:40

Make us a cup of tea, Sparky, please.

One sugar.

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2015 21:41

Coming right up usual. Bourbon Cream? Anyone else?

IreneA78 · 02/03/2015 21:41

why is it terrible?

Are people trying to pretend that their own 3 year old never watches any TV at all ? If you say so, then I don't believe you.If you say they do watch TV then why is it better or worse in one room than another?

usualsuspect333 · 02/03/2015 21:41

There is a thread about TVs in kids bedrooms every week.

TheoriginalLEM · 02/03/2015 21:42

Only1scoop · 02/03/2015 21:42

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2015 21:42

hazeyjane · 02/03/2015 21:43

If anyone fancies a drink, I can pop to the mini bar in the dd's room?

Only1scoop · 02/03/2015 21:44

Lovely Hazey....

Hope she has a full Optics with a choice of Gin Wine

usualsuspect333 · 02/03/2015 21:44

I'll take my tea upstairs and drink it while I watch the telly in bed.

usualsuspect333 · 02/03/2015 21:46

My DS does have some drink optics in his bedroom. Grin

He is 22 though.

BlueberryWafer · 02/03/2015 21:47

Forago, how on earth did you get from a TV in a 3 year olds bedroom to surfing porn on the net?! Did I miss something...?

I wouldn't personally have a TV in a child's bedroom, but everyone is different.

Sparklingbrook · 02/03/2015 21:48

DS2 has a mini fridge in his room. Next to his TV. Shock

Samcro · 02/03/2015 21:48

usualsuspect333 I hope you don't let him have squash too

Yet every single poster who is sick of threads about televisions in a child's bedroom still clicked on a thread titled 'TV in 3 year olds bedroom' Hmm

Only1scoop · 02/03/2015 21:51

I thought they wanted advice about which Tv and sound system to purchase....

TurquoiseDress · 02/03/2015 21:51

I agree with you OP- YANBU

Think it's really not appropriate for a child that age- bedrooms are most definitely for sleeping & not much else, esp for a young child.

Each to their own.

For me, I never had a TV in my bedroom until after I'd finished at university (and back at the parents!).

Even now, with OH we don't have s TV in the bedroom- would be fast asleep within a few minutes!

I just think there is no need for a child that age having a TV in their bedroom. That's just my opinion.
