...on another thread someone said that anytime you lose any amount of weight you should always double it. If you hadn't been eating sensibly you would have probably put that much on!

I also like the Kellogs advert about, 'it is not what you lose, it is what you gain.'

Any other inspiring thoughts out there?

Nancy that is a fucking stupid and irresponsible post.

SellMySoulForSomeSleep · 28/02/2015 00:30

For me: get pregnant! Once I had DD I could fit in jeans easily that I squeezed in to before getting pregnant. Weird.

Although breastfeeding and laziness put a stop to that. I'm currently a size bigger than a week after giving birth. So one size up in 9 months bollocks

I find having a goal that is achievable helps. Nothing worse than failing because your target is to high.

Dr0pThePirate · 28/02/2015 00:31

Eat less food than you have previously been eating.

anothereve · 28/02/2015 00:35

Long story short. - Healthy eating, little and often. Never let yourself get hungry. Keep a big pot of homemade veg soup going and have as often as you like. Herbs, curry powder, whatever, to avoid boring. Steer clear of fizzy drinks and sugar, of course. Ryvita instead of bread helps. Fish or chicken grilled with veg. Promise yourself a treat once a week; helps if you don't completely deny yourself. When you look in a mirror keep your ideal shape/size in mind, stand tall and walk that way. I see people who have lost loads but still carry themselves as if they hadn't. A really good fitting bra that gets the girls back up where they were at eighteen, or close, can take about ten pounds off the image.
DON'T use scales. It's not the weight, it's the inches!

ThingummyJigg · 28/02/2015 00:38

Woah there HelenaDove!

Nancy is being tongue in cheek about the noodles and the rest of it is her tip.

If you want fucking stupid and irresponsible, here's my tip: crystal meth. You'll lose not only weight, but also your face, your teeth, your friends, your job, your family and your self respect. Hurrah!

fizzycolagurlie · 28/02/2015 00:41

Helena Dove. too much vino tonight, stoking the old boiler up for a ruck? Calm yourself down.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2015 00:43

Im teetotal Which is something else that helps with weight loss Ive never been drunk not once.

There you go Dont drink alcohol!

Dr0pThePirate · 28/02/2015 00:46

"Dont drink alcohol"

Whoah! That crazy talk! Who's being irresponsible now!

Nancy66 · 28/02/2015 00:52

have a drink Helena - you might be more fun. Cheers

PomBearWithAnOFRS · 28/02/2015 00:53

Go swimming. Stop eating crap, and see through the advertising hype. Bear in mind that sugar is fat free, and lard is sugar free, and read the label!
You don't need fancy diet meals and snacks and expensive shit, just add it all up and think it through, and work out how much more you can eat of something you like so you can snack on it without guilt. And once a week have a treat - a Blue Riband only has 99 calories! that is less than any of those poxy "Go Ahead" bars and most of the other so called "slimming snacks" that they charge a fortune for. Don't listen to the stupid bloody adverts Grin
Dieting is mostly in the mind, it's the psychological side of it that makes it so damn hard.

HelenaDove · 28/02/2015 00:58

YY Pom Bear I havent touched Special K for two years.

Seems on MN though drinkers get a free pass and are treated with a lot more respect than overweight ppl are.

I can be fun without having a drink and when i have a good time i like to remember it.

If you dont drink you are treated like an oddity.

Dr0pThePirate · 28/02/2015 01:13

Meth is lovely on Special K though.

Crunchy Grin

ChilliAndMint · 28/02/2015 01:19

Be active, eat breakfast and have a lot of protein.

Mickeysmonkey · 28/02/2015 01:21

MorrisZapp I followed the same plan as you. Thankfully the anxiety has subsided, but the happy pills brought the pounds with them...

HootOnTheBeach · 28/02/2015 01:23

Don't eat. 5:2 diet is really working for me!

fluffymouse · 28/02/2015 01:39

Eat less and exercise more, as a lifestyle change.

All these faddy diets are just rediculous and a con.

Wineloffa · 28/02/2015 01:45

Breastfeed.

Run a marathon (with lots of training first obviously).

HoundoftheBaskervilles · 28/02/2015 01:53

Don't know if I can help here & if I'm not welcome tell me to fuck right off, but I've never been overweight, never been on a diet or funny about my food and have never been one for exercise (& I drink).

But I have been often asked how I do it, I've never really thought about it (until asked), because I am a greedy fucker, really, I eat my head off, I stick my head in the fridge & eat the lot.

My best tip is, eat, eat truly and honestly, eat everything you want to. Eat it all & enjoy it.

TheChickenSituation · 28/02/2015 02:00

Hmm, I started C25K in April, graduated, and ran my first 10K race last weekend (in under an hour), and I haven't lost any weight!

Really don't know what I'm doing wrong. Grin Lickily I'm not doing it for weight loss, but to get fit!

TheChickenSituation · 28/02/2015 02:04

Oh yeah, breastfeeding. That was, without doubt, the single most effective thing for me.

I was a slim teen, then yo-yo'd all through my twenties and early thirties. Had 2 DC in quick succession, breastfed them both, and have been back to my teenage weight ever since.

mimishimmi · 28/02/2015 05:30

Breastfeeding did the opposite for me - I looked like a milking cow. I put on weight after both pregnancies. Doing an hour of Jillian Michaels DVD's each morning combined with 6:1 fasting has been the best thing for me - I did lose most of the pregnancy weight previously but my bodyfat % remained around 32% which was too high even though my BMI was borderline healthy . Also, just entering everything honestly and asap into MFP has helped tremendously - that way if I have a big lunch, I don't feel too guilty, I'll just have a really light dinner.

Sirzy · 28/02/2015 05:41

Don't diet. Look at it as long term lifestyle changes. Diets don't work long term (generally)

Meal plan
Try to avoid overly processed foods. Drink lots of water
Exercise

Brandnewattitude · 28/02/2015 06:34

Give up breakfast. Go as long as you can in the morning without eating.

I am an all or nothing person so the 5:2 diet works for me. Once I start eating I can't stop.

Allow yourself to go to bed hungry. It's horrible but it works and you kind of get used to it.

whattheholyfeck · 28/02/2015 06:47

Break up with your shit of a partner. Lost 4lb this week!

niceupthedance · 28/02/2015 07:00

The shred. Cut out white carbs and snacks. Don't eat after 5pm (unless you are out drinking then prob need something to soak it up, NOT kebab).
