...the word you're looking for is 'BABY'.

You are absolutely definitely NOT being unreasonable.

I hate baby talk with a passion!!!

My FIL keeps saying to DS, "Look at your teggy coming through" and all I want to do is scream "It's a tooth, not a f*ing teggy!!!!

Weathergames · 27/02/2015 09:39

YABU a because I still call my 17 yr old "Bubs" Blush

QueenB14 · 27/02/2015 09:39

I use bubba Blush and variations of...

Also say cherub, Princess, pudding etc

QueenB14 · 27/02/2015 09:42

Just to clarify only TO dd not about her...to other adults I only use her name

WilsonWilsonWoman · 27/02/2015 09:45

Hate it!!! Don't mind baba...

Heard someone call their son "lil sir" yesterday...

ImADonkeyOnTheEdge · 27/02/2015 09:45

YADNBU It fucking grates on me.
Thankfully I don't really know anyone who says it.
Apart from a couple of vague 'friends' on facebook.
If anyone I knew said it in RL, I would slap them till they got the message.

ImADonkeyOnTheEdge · 27/02/2015 09:47

And don't start me off on fucking hubster.

FarHaveITravelled · 27/02/2015 09:49

I have a friend who refers to his girlfriend as his 'good lady'. Gives me the heebies!

CornChips · 27/02/2015 09:49

Oh yes yes yes I hate it too.

My DM uses it. 'How's bub?'. It grates. Mind you, when DS was teething she would ask me 'Have any more toothy-pegs come through?'

Drove me barmy

PrettyLittleMitty · 27/02/2015 09:50

Yanbu. My sil calls her son 'bub' and refers to herself as 'mummy' all the time. Constant fb status changes like 'mummy is very tired/happy/whatever today' why call yourself mummy to other adults? Don't get it.

WilliamShatnersPants · 27/02/2015 09:50

One word - preggo

Dowser · 27/02/2015 09:53

Cilla black when she knew she was going to be a grandmother didn't fancy being called gran, nana etc....the poor kid could call her bubba!

Babby is an expression used in the north. I don't like it myself.

But my grandkids get treated to a how's my little sweetheart on a regular basis.

It never hurts a child to let them see how loved they are and when I leave their house they queue up for hugs and kisses.

That's really astonishing!

HighwayDragon · 27/02/2015 09:53

I call dp bubba/baba/bubs/shitface/doucher Grin

puppy123 · 27/02/2015 09:55

I hate it, also people calling partner their boo. Wtf?

ptumbi · 27/02/2015 10:01

DH is my "bubs" sometimes, but this is short for bubbeleh which is Yiddish - I have a friend who calls me/DP 'babbaloo'; not sure where that comes from!

Another (ex)friend who called her girls 'Kid-ettes' (cadets) in public Shock

A bloke I heard in a shop calling his ds 'Number One' -( I assume from Star Trek, rather than the toilet Shock ) as in 'what sweeties do you want, Numebr One?' Grin

OP - YAmostdefinitelyNBU

BloodyDogHairs · 27/02/2015 10:07

I call my 2yr old baba all the time Blush

I like it, whereas I bloody hate when others refer to him as "the wean/wain" Angry

ShaynePunim · 27/02/2015 10:14

Oh I have a 12 y-o baba too.

But he has many hats. He's also a pudding, a darling, a sweetface, a little bunny, but mainly he's Mummy's Little Angel of Love.

He doesn't mind. :D

I HATE Wee Man and Lil Man, though.

Withershins · 27/02/2015 10:22

I call your Bubba, and raise you with, people who write Gawjus and Nom Nom Nom, makes me boke Angry

afreshstartplease · 27/02/2015 10:26

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 27/02/2015 10:37

Writerwannabe83 · 27/02/2015 10:38
