The implementation of FATCA is Obama and that's what has been the tipping point for lots of us. So many of us that they upped the fee to renounce a few months ago to $2,350 (from $450).

Which reminds me, I have one last FBAR filing to do... Grin

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 25/02/2015 11:57

And yes, he makes life for expats rather tricky, tax-wise, and I'm renouncing soon as well.

GoodbyeToAllOfThat · 25/02/2015 11:57

Expat Americans are renouncing in droves. I'd like to see a graph.

Verbena37 · 25/02/2015 12:05

Last summer, in 6 years of presidency, he had played only 69 rounds of golf less than Tiger Woods in the same period.....

Given the American electorate credibility again after the embarrasment of voting in Bush. Twice.

How many rounds has Tiger Woods played in the last 6 years?

lertgush · 25/02/2015 13:02

Its still pretty flat , state by state arent all enforced to take part in medicaid and 30 million will still likely be uncovered

Indeed, not all states are obliged to take part in the Medicaid expansion. Obama did pass that as part of the ACA, but the Supreme Court rescinded it.

Interesting how many states eventually did implement it, having insisted they would not originally.

Mine has not implemented it, but we have a different system for providing healthcare to low income people instead.

Obama hasn't done a huge amount, but that's mostly because everything he tries to do has been blocked by the Republicans. One of their main tactics is to block anything he tries to pass, then try to make out that he's not doing anything.

Verbena37 · 25/02/2015 14:13

269 apparently Smile

ChoochiWoo · 25/02/2015 14:26

Verbena!!!Hahaha Grin is that statistic true?

Verbena37 · 25/02/2015 15:01

Heehee, not sure. He does seem to play a lot of golf....and often at times when you'd imagine he'd have more pressing challenges.

Dawndonnaagain · 25/02/2015 15:07

It would appear that you didn't actually want to know what Obama had done, you just wanted to slate him. Why?

MonstrousRatbag · 25/02/2015 15:15

Lots of the golf games are fairly 'worky' though, I suspect. For example, when he needed to negotiate with Speaker John Boehner over the last shutdown crisis but one, they did it over 9 holes of golf at Andrews Air Force Base. So that statistic may be deceptive.

I think the standard of my children's education has gone downhill since Obama came into Govt. The Common Core is absolutely shite.

noddyholder · 25/02/2015 16:37

I read recently that he is very unpopular. I can't stand him personally I was excited when he got in but have found him fake and a bit silly tbh

SelfconfessedSpoonyFucker · 25/02/2015 16:44

I don't agree that common core is shit, I do think that the way it is being implemented is a pile of nonsense.

Coumarin · 25/02/2015 17:10

What Dawn said. You went from not knowing anything at all about Obamacare to quoting numbers and statistics, to back up why you thought it was a bad thing, 5 mins later. That's either very fast research, conclusion jumping or something you already knew about and had formed an opinion on.

lertgush · 25/02/2015 18:41

Yeah I thought the same coumarin.

Verbena my boss has played golf with Obama. And Tiger. As a result of one of the games he donated a huge sum to charity. Guess which one?

creighton · 25/02/2015 20:03

it doesn't matter if he is unpopular, he will not be running for election again. he has probably raised Americans standing as intelligent human beings after the duo of cheney and bush running the country (in that order) for 8 years.
