To ask if you fancy or know anyone who fancies Roger Moore?

I'm watching Octopussy and Roge is giving some young lovely his best sex moves while some plinky plonky muzak plays in the background. I have to admit that it's not really not doing much for me, my loins are untingled. It then occurred to me that we all know people who fancy Sean Connery, Pierce Brosnan and Daniel Craig but have you ever met someone who's said 'Oooooh that Roger Moore is so hot'?

No one wants to be rogered by Roger Moore.

He's more like some saucy old cove at the golf club bar than a suave Secret Service agent.

George Lazenby was awful, he was all 'g'day mate'.

Oh, missed that George had already been linked. No, looks old as well. In fact, up to and including Sean Connery, they just look like they could all have been colleagues of my dad.

ilovesooty · 22/02/2015 17:49

Oh I loved Roger and his eyebrows.

HolgerDanske · 22/02/2015 17:50

I don't fancy him but I really liked his Bond. In fact I think he's my favourite 007. I don't think he played it to be sexy or suave, he played it with just the right hint of a piss take.

And I agree with what someone said previously - I've always got the impression he's a thoroughly decent guy. His autobiography was a very good read as well. Not up himself at all and always coming across as thoroughly grateful for his remarkable good fortune.

GerbilsAteMyCat · 22/02/2015 17:52

Ooo Timothy Dalton
Swoon

championnibbler · 22/02/2015 17:53

just had a moment there thinking about Sean Connery.
fuck - he was gorgeous.

SwedishEdith · 22/02/2015 17:55

Who do we think could make a future Bond? A not-ready-yet-but-showing-potential? Just looking at Timothy Dalton reminded me of Aidan Turner. I am very excited to see that he's in a remake of Poldark.

championnibbler · 22/02/2015 17:57

Idris Elba = future Bond

TheSpottedZebra · 22/02/2015 17:58

I love Roger Moore (even the name is like a Bond joke!), but I am not sure I fancy him. I associate him with a Sunday night tea, in front of the telly as a kid.

But I maintain that he is the best bond - suave but also a bit silly. I liked the humour of those bond years.
And Sean Connery is a violent miserable bastard with a pretendy accent who can't act. He's not only a shit bond but a shit person.

ilovesooty · 22/02/2015 17:59

Yes, Roger played Bond as a piss take. That's why I liked him.

TheSpottedZebra · 22/02/2015 17:59

Idris is too good for Bond. It sorta kills your career, doesn't it? And he's only a couple of years younger than Daniel Craig.

NickAngel · 22/02/2015 18:00

Funny you mentioned it as just had similar discussion with DH. I fancied him.
But it was in the 80's.
I still think he's quite charming...

Twitterqueen · 22/02/2015 18:01

Ok all you young things. Take some learnings here:

  1. Any Bond is sexy and gorgeous - without question
  2. Roger was a product of his time - suave, smooth and sophisticated.
  3. Yes, millions of us fancied him at the time
  4. Sean Connery is the sexiest, most fuckable, definitive Bond of all time and forever will be
  5. I wasn't sure about Daniel Craig until Skyfall - probably the best Bond film ever.

I'll think of some more in a while..

championnibbler · 22/02/2015 18:01

yeah - perhaps Bond would be a bit beneath Elba.

He sure is sexy though.

NickAngel · 22/02/2015 18:01

He was brilliant in that piss take on over Christmas with Simon off the Fast Show.

emwithme · 22/02/2015 18:02

I absolutely ADORE Roger Moore. He is the Best Bond Ever.

He can do ALL THAT ACTING with only one eyebrow...imagine how good he would've been if he'd used his whole face.

HolgerDanske · 22/02/2015 18:03

You're right, love but not fancy is just right. And I do actually think he was quite suave. I also loved him in The Saint. A couple of years back we used to have The Saint on in the background every morning whilst the DDs were having breakfast and getting ready for school. It'll be one of my most treasured memories of cosy, comfortable togetherness in years to come, I think.

weebairn · 22/02/2015 18:06

Love love love Roger Moore and considered calling my second kid Roger (she was a girl- lucky escape! Grin )

ilovesooty · 22/02/2015 18:06

And in the Persuaders Grin

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 22/02/2015 18:07

The only fuckable Bonds are Dalton and Craig.

Moore - posh Dad
Connery - violent Dad
Bros - twinkly Dad
Lazenby - absent dad pursued by CSA

If you're counting the 1967 Casino Royale then obviously David Niven is the best Bond evah

TondelayoSchwarzkopf · 22/02/2015 18:08

Has everyone seen the Roger Moore knitting patterns from the 50s!

MamaGelfling · 22/02/2015 18:09

My Aunty had a shirtless Roger Moore calender!??

PilchardPrincess · 22/02/2015 18:19

That mental image has killed the thread dead Grin

HolgerDanske · 22/02/2015 18:23

Haha I expect he looked rather good without a shirt on, in his prime.

FarFromAnyRoad · 22/02/2015 18:25

Roger Moore was absolutely right for the time though - I was madly in love with him! He'd be hopeless now but then who wouldn't be hopeless up against Daniel Craig?
