It's fucking medieval that shops are only allowed to open a few hours and not allowed to sell gin at a specific point. It is 2015 FFS.

I'm torn on this - I do look back fondly on 'proper' Sundays when nothing was open and I think a day without shopping would generally be a good thing but I recognise that it doesn't really fit in with modern life.

However, if shops do have to open on Sundays why the hell can't they open for a decent amount of time? Sunday hours can be really inconvenient if you do want to go shopping. I can't see what benefit there is in being open just from 11-4 or whatever.
