Hi,

I have been looking at inter web Tv thingys (on demand stuff) and wondered if anyone had any recommendations? Love film (Amazon on demand) and Netflix seem the most popular but Knowhow movies is much cheaper.......

Any pearls of wisdom? Smile

I second a Roku box. I have one connected to both TV's in my house. You can sign up to Netflix using multiple devices on the same account too. I find this handy as whatever we have been watching downstairs on Netflix via the Roku is the same on the Roku box upatairs. So pausing something downstairs means when you go upstairs it's at the same point.

Some blu-ray players are smart enabled, if you have one check it? You can often access Netflix this way meaning you don't have to pay for a new device just to get it.

I would like to add I have the base models of the Roku, the more expensive ones support 1080p if it matters and are probably faster to load.

The Roku LT I have upstairs is slightly faster than the Roku 1 downstairs but they are the same thing I think. The Roku 1 probably replaced the Roku LT.

Both my TV's are 1080p and I think the Roku will upscale from 720p where there is full HD content if you are worried about picture quality.

Mouse Ive just got into Pretty Little Liars too. Just started season 2

bumbleymummy · 22/02/2015 13:36

Netflix

Gem124 · 22/02/2015 15:06

We have both and use Netflix way more as there's things we both like, Love film has lots of things I'd like but not my partner x

LumpySpacedPrincess · 22/02/2015 15:30

Netflix all the way, and I speak as someone who has both at the moment.

Do you have a Wii, you can get Netflix through that, even US Netflix which has a better selection. We get US through the Wii U and UK through the smart TV.

Prime does have some gems though so watch them while you have it free. The Vikings is ace as is Constantine if that floats your boat. Smile

At the risk of being singled out as dim- do I log into Netflix via a VPN in the USA with my UK log in?

We also watch Netflix through the Wii, but haven't bothered to check out US Netflix yet. Community is keeping me occupied for now.

The kids love it and find it really easy to navigate.

HelpMeGetOutOfHere · 22/02/2015 16:08

We have Netflix and I think it's rubbish. Every film I've ever searches for isn't on there. But the dc use it a lot so haven't cancelled. They are 13 and 17.

laughingmyarseoff · 22/02/2015 19:29

Netflix films aren't all that but it has good series, Dexter is very brilliant and complete on Netflix.

MyIronLung · 22/02/2015 21:05

I much prefer Netflix and I hook it up to the tv from my laptop with a hdmi cable with no issues.
I tend to watch tv series rather than films so it's perfect for me (although there are lots of films on there too).

The kids section is brilliant.

MyIronLung · 22/02/2015 21:07

I'm the dim one now...how do you access the U.S. netflix (talk to me like i'm about 4 and I might just get it) Grin

Sorry for the slight derailment op.

BigCatFace · 22/02/2015 21:26

Use blockless for your router (if using Netflix on telly, and you have to pay for it)or if using Netflix on your computer, on Google Chrome download the Hola extension from the Play store (free). You can download hola for your Android phone too :)

MyIronLung · 22/02/2015 21:35

Thanks BigCatFace Flowers

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 22/02/2015 22:51

American netflixs. I'm in the uk but managed to get the us version a million times better.

Cariad007 · 23/02/2015 00:02

Amazon has a better selection but I find it really buggy as it's forever crashing on my Smart TV.

SoonToBeSix · 23/02/2015 00:03

Netflix by far.

lertgush · 23/02/2015 01:27

I watch stuff on Amazon more than Netflix - I like that I can either watch free Prime videos or I can rent newer movies.

I'm in the US though so that probably doesn't help.

PintofCiderPlease · 23/02/2015 01:33

I tried Lovefilm but can't watch anything because my broadband speed is too slow, but never have a problem with Netflix.

HelpingHands64 · 23/02/2015 04:09

Had netflix, good for a bit but no new films and a lot of them are old, Love film apparently similar but I've not personally used them. However, I'm currently using Now TV and the films are fantastically recent!

dancestomyowntune · 23/02/2015 05:41

Can I hijack the thread and ask how you people access American Netflix in the uk?

RandomNPC · 23/02/2015 06:03

I use Chrome as a browser, and the Hols extension. It's explained here:

mobile.pcadvisor.co.uk/how-to/digital-home/3468981/how-watch-us-netflix-in-uk-pc-xbox-playstation-apple-tv-ios-android/

RandomNPC · 23/02/2015 06:04

*Hola, not Hols.

Seefooddiet · 23/02/2015 06:32

I have showbox, its amazing and free. Its for android though but you can get a lead from ebay for about 8 quid to enable you to watch it on the tv.
Its a mixture of shows and films, american sniper and mockingjay pt 1 are on there, just to give you an indication of how current it is.
I watched the latest episode of greys anatomy yesterday and that was shown in america on thursday.
There is literally thousands of shows and films!
Sounds like I work for them, I dont!
If you google showbox its not the first result but a couple of results down the page
