To ask what jobs you hate that have ended up as 'your jobs'around the house

flippityflip · 18/02/2015 11:07

To be fair we have a fairly equal division of labour in the house but there are certain jobs that have somehow become 'mine' that I now detest.Plenty of others I don't love but don't hate to the same extent,my worst three are:
Cleaning out the kitchen sink (ie emptying the gunk from the gunk catcher and cleaning out any grime from under the basin etc.)
Cleaning the dishwasher filters and dishwasher (particularly winds me up as I seem to be only person who does not dump things in dishwasher still covered in
bits of food!)
Emptying the dishwasher (no real reason why for this one it's a bit of an irrational dislike,if I hand wash dishes instead I would also dislike drying and putting away over washing them.)
What are yours?

Emptying the bin. I can't stand doing it but I've seen DP almost retch while doing it and he turns into such a big girl's blouse that I elbow past him and do it myself. I tend to ensure that the kitchen and bathroom are clean because I'm totally anal and don't trust him to clean them to my standards and he looks after the bedroom and living room.

Mintyy · 18/02/2015 11:11

Turning out the fridge and making sure there aren't nasty surprises hidden at the back or at the bottom of the veg drawer.

No one but me EVER does this :(

CliveCussler · 18/02/2015 11:12

I also hate the dishwasher tasks. So much so, that I stopped doing it. after some time dh took over and now he is the dishwasher monitor.

JustADadHere · 18/02/2015 11:13

I get to deal with the cat messes - emptying the litter tray and any random vomit. One reason I refuse to get another pet, because I know who will end up cleaning up the messes.

Quenelle · 18/02/2015 11:14

Cleaning the shower cubicle. I hate that fucking thing and would rip it out today if I could.

LarrytheCucumber · 18/02/2015 11:15

Anything involving cleaning paintwork, window frames, the loos, the shower cubicle, the washbasins, the tiled floors, in fact it is easier to say what DH does do. He fills and empties the dishwasher sometimes, hoovers occasionally, puts out the bins if asked and changes the bags, and washes up saucepans etc. He does make me lots of tea, occasional breakfast in bed and cooks meals though.

Cranagh · 18/02/2015 11:16

Emptying the bins. When the DC are old enough, it can be their job!

flippityflip · 18/02/2015 11:27

Glad to see it's not just me!DH does all the ironing which I am extremely grateful for as I hate ironing and an rubbish at it,but if DH isn't here and one of his jobs needs done-like taking bin bags out to wheelie bins- I will do them, whereas if it's one of my jobs it will wait until I'm home to do it Hmm

ohtheholidays · 18/02/2015 12:12

Cleaning the kitchen,it's just so boring and it's my job every single day.Same with the bathroom but that's every other day.Emptying and cleaning the bins out, that always falls to me as well.
And sorting the laundry, there's 7 of us so there's always masses of it and I always end up having to ask someone what belongs to who,I have a terrible memory.

Moving the cat litter tray first thing in the morning with a manic 1 year old, 4 and 6 year old! DH said he would do it as he leaves for work (6AM) before we get up (6:30) I refuse to change the litter though! cat came to stay for 2 weeks and never went home he is so loving to the kids

Bed time somehow it went from taking it in turns to me doing 99% of them Confused no idea when it started either. He will put them to bed but I have to ask him.

Dog walking he only had one walk to do the morning walk all he had to do was take her out to our allotment and throw a ball or nip to the local field would take 10mins so now she goes for a walk with me at about 10AM when I get back from the school run lazy lurcher when I have to be out all morning I have to drag her off the sofa she loves her sleep I happily walk her 3-4 times a day.

kitchentableagain · 18/02/2015 14:53

Laundry!

I do a lot of other far grottier things but the endless repetitive monotony of the laundry is what I really really hate.

I could ask dh to do it, but he does the dishwasher and I hate that even more...

TheRealAmandaClarke · 18/02/2015 15:17

That is, i dont do all the chores. But i hate all the chores i do.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 18/02/2015 15:18

TheGingerBreadWoman · 18/02/2015 15:32
