Why would anyone want a one way trip to Mars?

I suppose they feel that they'll get their names into the history books. But what a waste: young, gifted, so much to offer our own Earth world. Are they mad or just mega egotistical?

I think noisy has Sussed it. Reality TV wannabees if you ask me. Nothing to do with going to Mars. Sad....

Thanks to the poster who provided the link to the Telegraph article. I listened to the interview on women's hour a while ago and thought it was some Government endorsed project. I am glad to see it's not! The whole thing sounds mad. Really wrong from an ethical point of view - it would be fine I think if there was a risk but a chance of coming back - really wrong if they know it's one way and likely death.

We shouldn't provoke the Martians. Last time they invaded, they destroyed Woking and made a hell of a mess. We don't want all that again.

I can't think of anything more mental. Anyone proposing to go should read Huis Clos (In Camera) by Jean-Paul Sartre. "L'enfer, c'est les autres".

Why try to push the boundaries of science and discover more about our universe when you could be having chips for tea and living in a semi with your husband Gaz and two kids.

ToffeeWhirl · 18/02/2015 23:38

Well, I know which I'd prefer, LeSaor Wink.

I don't believe a word of it tbh. It's utter bollocks!

Better to live a day as a lion than a lifetime as a lamb, and all that? Self-preservation is not the be all and end all. Blaze of glory, etc.
