to be actually surprised, in a way kind of freaked out, that you can buy a pram like this?

presumably for girl & boy twins.

I know, I know, OBVIOUSLY there are genuinely shocking things in the world that this does not even begin to compare to, and NO it is not the only thing I need to worry about but ... I just seriously don't like this pram. I guess the gender stereotyping from birth wrankles, and when it is put side by side like this so blatantly it seems even more crass than usual. I don't know why else I get this really unsettled reaction.

But aibu?

After 2 boys, my newborn daughter wore nothing but pink for quite a few months. I'm now sick of pink, snd she uses her elder brother's buggy anyway - but why does it matter how other people dress their own kids?

Weebirdie · 07/02/2015 06:03

Its lovely.

I have that pram. It's amazing. I have 13 months between my DC and it saved us having to buy a new pram as you can close it so it can be used it as a single or a double.

I started of with two hoods the same (both sandy beige) and could tell the seats apart when DD was tiny as she was in the carrycot and DS in the pushchair attachment. Then DD went into the pushchair attachment too and I lost count of the number of times I started to out DD in DS attachment or vice versa and the straps were either too long or too short. So I bough DD a new hood so that I could easily differentiate. As I am a tight arse, I got it from the bugaboo online outlet and they only had a bright pink one. So I got that.

But then DS took a fancy to it so often asks for DD's hood. Which I put on his buggy attachment

From this thread, it seems that I am a very bad mother. On lots of accounts Confused

I have twins boy/girl and do not understand this angst over pink and blue. Mine had some blue/pink items (cosy toes, high chairs etc) due to the designs I liked or relatives buying. Also, when my twins were small I was stopped ALL the time asking about what sex they were. Seriously, the attention was quite unbelievable. I hoped, actually, that blue and pink cosy toes might help answer the question.

Anyway, I'm fairly confident my parenting and strong personality will have more of an impact on my daughter than a bit of pink will

confused79 · 07/02/2015 06:59

I don't see the problem with it Hmm if I had twins, boy /girl I'd get the same. But then I have better things to worry about....

parallax80 · 07/02/2015 07:10

I have B/G twins, who admittedly are only 4 months, but:

Both sides of the buggy is all blue (because that's what was available on eBay)

Their bouncy chairs are both pink and flowery (because that was the colour that was mega reduced on amazon)

They have some pink clothes, some blue clothes and a lot of white grey, green, red, yellow etc etc clothes. Who gets what depends on a) size and b) how many cups of tea I've managed before getting everyone dressed.

their older brother is much more in need of understanding 'ownership' than they are. Sadly you can't buy mini sausages in tins of beans saying "mummy" and "DS1".

None of it really matters, surely? except the mini sausages

afreshstartplease · 07/02/2015 07:17

I don't get why people go on and on about this

timer · 07/02/2015 07:21

I've seen worse. Personally I hated the branded Minnie Mouse one hello kitty type prams. I'm sure plenty of other people with no taste like and buy them. Meh.

Borttagen · 07/02/2015 07:28

I have this buggy but with two blue hoods - and have two boys sitting in it. I chose the blue as I love the colour, not because DCs2 and 3 are boys. I also love pink. Is it ok to have DC2 in a blue hood when wearing a pink snowsuit his sister had (bought by GPs).
The buggy is brilliant by the way and has all the features I needed which is the main thing - the colour of the hoods is just a minor final detail after managing to figure out which buggy will work best for 3 kids under 3.5!

timer · 07/02/2015 07:33

Dd wears tons of pink because that's what people give me. I have no great fondness for pink but neither do I care enough not to use the free clothes.

When she was little, if she wore blue my mum wouldn't take pictures of her that day "because she looks like a boy" Smile

littlesupersparks · 07/02/2015 07:41

Oh on an earlier point- this pushchair is the width of a wheelchair too... So glad to hear some of these positive comments. These are our last babies so I hope the pram is good!!

Shockers · 07/02/2015 07:43

I saw someone pushing one of these yesterday!

I just thought it was a very old fashioned idea. My grandmother used to buy pink for me and blue for my uncle (only 7 months apart).

BikeRunSki · 07/02/2015 07:55

For goodness sake.
Bugaboo prams are amazing quality, last for ages and their resale value is terrific.
The cloths come in loads of colours. Pink and blue are just two of them. You can choose whichever colours you want. Baby pink and blue sell well, so why wouldn't they be options? Bugaboo are running a business, not trying to change the world eith gender politics.
The small mindedness lies in the (many) people who assume that pink clothes/pushchair/shoes/ wallpaper/sippy cups/changing bags are only for girls; in fact almost mandatory for girls!

TakingTheStairs · 07/02/2015 07:56

Christ the bows on the wheels of that Argos pram are twee! Yuk!

I saw a single pram yesterday that was pink and leopard skin all over. Tbh that offended my senses far more than a blue/pink one.

I had this buggy for my boys but I had electric blue black. I didn't pay for it mind you but I loved it. It was the best buggy I ever had and am keeping it for round 3 and 4 lol

TakingTheStairs · 07/02/2015 08:08

I agree Lepaskilf but this specific pram isn't always sold like this. You customise it to what colours you want. Bugaboo don't market any colours as boy/girl colours. That is the choice of the website that the OP posted the link to or the choice of the consumer. Yes it's close minded but no one has said you can't have pink for a boy.

gamerchick · 07/02/2015 08:16

Bugaboos are horrible prams anyway.

What makes me laugh are those parents who will spend stupid money on a pram but won't spend that kind of money on a car seat to keep their kids rear facing for as long as possible.

This thread is funny. Bugaboos are v common buggies (getting one myself later today!) and the donkey certainly top choice for twins round here. As a poster on pg1 mentioned you've linked to a display model- you chose your own fabric when you buy. You could have any one of about 10 colours, or a mixture.

tropicalholidayhereicome · 07/02/2015 08:30

I don't see the problem with this pram other than is a rip off, and looks heavy.

NowABitShapeless · 07/02/2015 08:32

What a ridiculous comment Gamerchick. Utterly bizarre.
