To go to A and E because I can't get a doctors appointment?

I have the contraceptive implant, had it put in in September. Since then I have put on two stone, got spot all over my face and back, feel like killing myself and bled constantly.

I decided to give it a few months to see if it would settle down but it hasn't. Beginning of Jan phoned gp surgery for app to have it removed. Surgery works on a system whereby the doctor, rather than receptionist calls you back to make appointment. The doc that can remove implants only works Mondays. Three mondays in a row now I have booked with reception for doc to call me to make appointment, they haven't. I went into surgery at 5.30 today to try and speak to said doctor to make appointment as they hadnt called me but she'd already left. So arranged another phone call for next monday.

How the fuckity fuck do I get this out of my arm? Sexual health clinic only open to under 25's, walk in centre shut down, 101 tells me to see gp. Can i go to a and e? Perform surgery on myself? Any other ideas?

no feminist rage, have never received any pressure to have an implant, and thanksw god we have acess to contraceptives frankly

the issue of not seeing a GP is for all genders, all races and I have no idea why people are putting a feminist slant on this

She's having suicidal thoughts - 'abuse' of A and E? Fuck off. Obviously it's not 'abuse' of anything, people need to wake up and realise that feeling suicidal is a serious problem. The ONLY party being unreasonable here is the GP, and if anyone is to blame for people like the OP desperately seeking an urgent alternative it's our broken system that means half of us can't even get to see the GP. Fucking 'abuse' indeed....

Sorry if I havn't read the whole thread ( I may be repeating what others are saying ).

Have you got a minor injuries unit near by? They might be able to help and are often less busy than A&E, of course this will depend if they have anyone that's able to remove it ( often they are run by nurses ).

If you went to A&e you would probably be kept waiting for 4 hours, it may be easier to change gp's ( it only involves filling out some forms and making an appointment ).

I think A&e should be your last resort but if you do decide to go try going early in the morning, it's likely to be quieter and someone might feel sorry for you and remove the implant ( if they are not busy ).

I know the thread has moved and and far more ridiculous things have been said, but I couldn't let this go

The contraception may not be linked to your feelings and it shouldn't be up to you to decide if it is or not. Really? Really? The op shouldn't get to decide this? I need a lie down!

It seems stupid that you can't just book an appointment with the implant doctor 3 weeks ahead. At my surgery you struggle for on the day appointments but if you're prepared to wait a week or 2 can book in easily which is fine for contraceptive stuff.
If the system is a doctor phones you back and a doctor hasn't phoned you back (assuming you kept your phone on as surgery staff don't usually leave messages on answer phones) then I would complain as the system isn't working.
I wouldn't go to A&E as they won't remove it there. A family planning clinic would be the alternative as they usually insert and remove implants.

Fucking hell, do people really think like this? Confused
