To think it's ok to use a jacuzzi at 10 weeks pregnant because it's no different from a bath?!

I have a friend's birthday coming up and we're going to a spa for the day. I understand it would not be advisable to use the sauna/steam room but I don't see why it's not wise to use a jacuzzi. The ones I've used before have been a nice warm bath temperature, possibly slightly cooler than the baths I have so I don't see the risk of overheating. Am I missing something? (This is baby no 3 for me so I'm a bit more relaxed about everything!)

I wouldn't go in a jaccuzzi not pregnant so I certainly wouldn't go in one pregnant.

Except in a motel in Rotorua, NZ, where each room has a tub and you fill it afresh straight form the hot springs.

No cloying chlorine smell, no faecal matter of any particle size.

Maybe sit on the edge with your feet in? Its the overheating thats the problem as they don't cool down

Worksallhours · 29/01/2015 22:32

To be honest, I wouldn't ... I would be too bothered about the infection risk from bacteria present in the water.

Look at it this way. Would you, as a pregnant woman, get into a bath of water that ten or more people had already bathed in?

BlinkAndMiss · 30/01/2015 00:04

I just don't know why you'd take the risk. Get used to having to put yourself last, it's a spa day that you could do once the baby has been born.

Crappity crap. Just read this post. Not poas yet but I think I might be 5w4d pg, was on weekend away 2 weeks ago and went in jacuzzi, steam room and sauna. Didn't know I was pg at the time. Fuck. Do you think that is bad? Already had one mmc, don't want another one.

grocklebox · 30/01/2015 09:27

You'd be talking about being about 10 days post conception, if that, if you are pregnant at all, and absolutely no proven risk whatsoever.
Please don't let the above nonsenses bother you at all. Stress is far worse for you! Honestly, forget all about it.

grocklebox · 30/01/2015 09:29

Also, don't get used to always putting yourself last. Thats terrible, and misogynistic, advice. You don't cease to matter as a person just because you are pregnant, or a mother.

Don't forget the Gentlemans relish

Whateverittakes3 · 30/01/2015 14:57

Hmm gentleman's relish and a teaspoon of shit! It's starting to sound less appealing, however having read all your comments, I think I'll use my common sense, take a plunge and get out if I start to feel too hot or an unsavoury character steps in. I'll also be sure to position my foof away from the jets! Thanks everyone.
