To think this is a bit disgusting

Yesterday morning we had a bit of a disaster when one of the radiators in the lounge burst. We used Tupperware boxes to catch the water.
After everything was all sorted someone in my household put the said boxes in the dishwasher along with all the plates, cutlery etc. Now this may be the germaphobe in my talking but I thought that was a bit 'yuck'.

AIBU?

Yes. YABU.

Although I am also unreasonable because I absolutely hate it when my husband put puts the cats bowls in the dishwasher.

bungmean · 27/01/2015 16:40

Yabu.
Smile

Tinkerball · 27/01/2015 16:40

Not sure what you find disgusting really. You do realise dishwashers have roasting water in them?

gobbynorthernbird · 27/01/2015 16:41

YABU. They will all get sterilised by the steam (says the lady who chucks the dogs' bowls in hers).

OTheHugeManatee · 27/01/2015 16:41

Yes, YABU. The point of the dishwasher is that it washes!

Sparklingbrook · 27/01/2015 16:41

When I open my dishwasher I get a facial steam and the stuff inside is too hot to touch. YABVU.

WellDidYa · 27/01/2015 16:41

yes - what do you think was in the water that is going to be to so bad that it cannot be cleaned by washing it in a dishwasher?

A dishwasher cleans everything in it, we put our pet bowls in with our eating implements

McFox · 27/01/2015 16:42

What could possibly be disgusting about something that held water being washed by more very very hot water?!

Bowlersarm · 27/01/2015 16:42

What they all said. Yabu.

ShatnersBassoon · 27/01/2015 16:42

They were only catching water, not sewage.

Sparklingbrook · 27/01/2015 16:43

Unless possibly the radiators were full of poo or summat....

Leontine · 27/01/2015 16:43

This is one of the only times I will probably ever say that I am glad that I'm being unreasonable. Grin

TheFecklessFairy · 27/01/2015 16:43

Methinks you may have a problem, OP !

FreckledLeopard · 27/01/2015 16:44

I put all the cats' bowls in the dishwasher alongside our stuff. Hell, I even share the same bowls and plates as the cats. On that basis, YABU.

spanky2 · 27/01/2015 16:44

Depends on what colour the water is coming out of the radiator. Before we had our system flushed the radiator water was a dark browny yellow.

Leontine · 27/01/2015 16:47

@spanky2 The water was black.

@sparklingbrook VU? A bit harsh? Grin

@TheFecklessFairy I do! Grin

You are overly fastidious to a fault op

Sparklingbrook · 27/01/2015 16:49

I am not very often harsh Leon. Grin But I will say if you are worried I would use it as an excuse to treat yourself to a whole new tupperware set. Grin

JKSLtd · 27/01/2015 16:50

Does depend on what was coming out of the radiator. If your system is in a good condition and the water was clear it'll probably be ok.

But, there can be metal floating about inside - that comes off the insides of your system if it's not in good nick. I know as one of ours wasn't working and black water came out. It was dirty - it was full of metal filings. The plumber stuck a magnetic screwdriver in there.

I wouldn't want to wreck my dishwasher with lots of bit of metal.

Magnaclean sorts it - can highly recommend :)

dalmatianmad · 27/01/2015 16:50

Waiting for someone to say they put their potty in their dishwasher Grin

JKSLtd · 27/01/2015 16:51

It wasN'T dirty that was meant to be

GotToBeInItToWinIt · 27/01/2015 16:51

YABU. Surely the radiators only had water in them? And they will be washed in very hot water?

Leontine · 27/01/2015 16:52

@Sparklingbrook For people to start using them as potties? Grin And who is Leon? Grin Grin

Also someone who puts the dog bowl in the dishwasher along with our own stuff Smile. Our dishwasher has a 75 degree setting which I have read is hot enough to sterilise the contents.
