Yes. I admit it. My name is Humph and I am hooked on crap TV.

Anyway. I have a couple of questions about American weddings.

  1. Why do so many brides have 2 dresses? The ceremony dress and another one for the party.
  1. What is with the weird shape? Sort of tight fitted from boob to mid-thigh then poofy on the bottom.
  1. Does Randy have work done every week? His face is morphing into a Ken replica.

I love it too. If it isn't on I sometimes have to make do with I've found the gown. I love Randy. I wish he had been there when I chose my wedding dress as my parents were horrible! I also love Randy's wedding rescue. The one in Washington with the wedding of the year bride who invited the obamas and the woman who told her petite daughter was fat looking in a dress. The look on her face watching her daughter was classic my mum. Such opposite brides.

hotfuzzra · 27/01/2015 18:58

Oh my gosh I found this recently.
Did anyone see the Yes to the Dress Bridesmaids where the brides little sister was a total bridesmaidzilla?! She was awful (accepts it is heavily scripted/put on)
Love a bit of trash TV best way to get DH out the living room!

LittleMiss77 · 27/01/2015 19:03

ok.... I've just series linked Say Yes to the Dress based on your comments. hope I'm not going to be disappointed!

Cupcakes123 · 27/01/2015 19:08

My maternity leave has been made a million times better because of Say Yes To The Dress!
I secretly want to try a Pnina on, I can't lie.... There's one particular one ball gown one that quite a lot of people seem to go for, it's massive and about £1,000,000 if I walked down the aisle to my fiancé in it, he would do this face...... Confused!
And Fridays on TLC now it's just wedding dress programmes all day now

CameliousHumph · 27/01/2015 19:08

I have to bloody work tomorrow so won't be able to indulge in SYTTD viewing. Sad

Oh I love this show!

I feel like I've found my spiritual home with you lot!

I'm just watching the link posted before with the very rich couple. She's just spent $50,000 on 2 dresses. And $50,000 on one part of their dual-religion wedding ceremony. And she has 4 dresses. And her fiance speaks about himself in the third person. And, and, and..........

I'm loving every minute Grin

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 27/01/2015 19:30

It was great but 8 years ago so I can't remember who I saw! There was a small foreign lady and a whole troupe of identikit blondes rushing everywhere with armfuls of dresses.

Then you emerge out of your dressing room onto a plinth in the middle of the shop and everyone stops and gaps... Memories!

CameliousHumph · 27/01/2015 19:41

We seemed to spend a lot of christmas holidays flicking on TV at SYTTD time. Ds's all became hooked. They think every bride has a gay best friend to go dress shopping with. Certainly a high percentage seem to.

Bue · 27/01/2015 20:00

I think we need a Telly Addicts thread...

Wild do they really only let you try on three dresses at a fitting? Confused This seems to be the standard number, or is that just what they have time to show on the program? I shopped at two bridal salons and tried on 7 at one and 6 at the other!

dementedma · 27/01/2015 20:06

Another one here who loves Randy. He is brilliant!

askyfullofstars · 27/01/2015 20:18

delicuousirony That did happen to me and I started a thread Grin It was my first unanimous YANBU.
Have never seen this show, will have to try it now Grin Grin Grin

Pixel · 27/01/2015 20:21

I have never heard of this Shock.

Just looked through tv pages and can't find it but luckily or not there seems to be an awful lot of it on Youtube!

TheWildRumpyPumpus · 27/01/2015 20:27

No I tried on loads... They don't let you run wild picking everything though, they quickly narrow down best shape for you then show you things in your budget.

Pixel · 27/01/2015 20:28

Have just watched a bit of the link further down. All I can say is Sonny looks as if he is fighting the urge to run far far away. And why is the bride a clone of her mother who hates fire exit signs?

My God, no wonder you are all addicted. It's hypnotic and horrifying all at the same time .

guiltynetter · 27/01/2015 20:58

another big fan here who discovered it a few months ago on maternity leave. the other day my 7 year old niece came round and was flicking through the channels and asked me to put it on because 'she likes dresses' ha!

I love randy but I had to unfollow him on twitter as he is weirdly obsessed with his dog.

IHeartChristmasMoomies · 27/01/2015 21:55

Omg I just watched that episode linked to up thread.

$500,000 on their wedding and she made the bridesmaids buy their dresses?!?!?!

They did seem nice though.

itchybumagain · 28/01/2015 18:46

I love SYTTD and my DD 7 does to.

I've told her if she gets married I'll take her to Kleinfeld for her dress Wink got a fair few years yet though!

The dress you described sounds like a mermaid and I love them.

itchybumagain · 28/01/2015 18:48

Ooh just remembered Randy's wedding rescue, love that to!

queenoftheknight · 28/01/2015 18:54

Yes, my ten yr old DD and I have decided to go to Kleinfeld's too, if and when. :)

Justpickone · 28/01/2015 18:59

I am addicted... But I did get my dress at kleinfeld (Audrey!!) and...AND. It is a Pnina Tornai!

I looked fabulous and nothing like Barbie in stripper lingerie!

Best shopping day of my life ever hands down

livingzuid · 28/01/2015 19:24

jistpickone and rumpy Envy Envy Envy

invisiblecrown · 28/01/2015 19:26

Which one did you go for Justpickone?

livingzuid · 28/01/2015 19:27

Oh I like Lori too but I just get so put off by the bridesmaids! It is the highlight of the show when she appears to sort out particularly uppity ones.

That said, it is customary to pay for your bridesmaids dress in the US it seems (is th that right?) so if I had to shell out two hundred dollars to look like a tangerine blamanche I'd be pissed off as well!

Nishky · 28/01/2015 20:02

Does anyone remember 'Dress of my dreams' - the bride would describe to a fashion buyer type person her dream dress, who would track down one that matched description.

Meanwhile bride would try loads on and pick one herself.

Then had to de decide between the two.

I loved that show.
