Am I being unreasonable to think giving your 6 year old has been sent home with a tummy bug and still v.poorly a donor kebab is awful?

SpottyTits · 25/01/2015 19:25

Why is it awful? Perhaps it's the only thing the child wanted to eat? At that it might even have been home made! In the end it's grilled lamb with herbs and spices. Call it by any other name and no one would have an issue!

CaptainAnkles · 25/01/2015 19:27

It's not the first meal that would spring to mind to give to an ill child, certainly. But I don't know the circumstances.

Booboostoo · 25/01/2015 19:27

I thought you are supposed to keep giving them anything they are willing to eat and drink, but may be wrong.

ItsAllKickingOffPru · 25/01/2015 19:27

Depends if they gave the Goat a bit.

AwfulBeryl · 25/01/2015 19:27

Errrrrrm, dunno depends on the circumstances like Beth said.
I make a homemade donner kebab and it's lovely, not fatty at all. I give it to my dc, they wouldn't eat it if they were unwell and not up to it.

AwfulBeryl · 25/01/2015 19:29

Shock at giving the goat a doner kebab, that's like cannibalism.

If the child is hungry I don't think it's a baaaaaaaaaad idea.

arethereanyleftatall · 25/01/2015 19:31

Any more different spellings of doner to come?

LovesBooks · 25/01/2015 19:31

If the child is really ill, maybe that is what they asked for and it will be the only thing mum can get them to eat today. I really would not judge without knowing the circumstances.

BloodyUserName · 25/01/2015 19:33

Judge much?

AwfulBeryl · 25/01/2015 19:33

Grin at donor kebab, I didn't notice that first time round.

esiotrot2015 · 25/01/2015 19:33

it's like having a hangover and craving macdonalds surely

whatever you can stomach is ok by me

betweenmarchandmay · 25/01/2015 19:36

I've gone off kebabs since reading a teenage girl was put in one after she was murdered. Might be an urban myth hope so

"Perhaps it's the only thing the child wanted to eat" haha that's such a Mumsnet comment.

TheRealAmandaClarke · 25/01/2015 19:40

I woud leave off the chilli sauce.

bloodyteenagers · 25/01/2015 19:44

How are people making home made doner kebabs? Shish and kofta easy but doner...

DandyHighwayman · 25/01/2015 19:46

Mmmmmmm elephant leg.........

SpottyTits · 25/01/2015 19:49

bloody here although I would like to point out its originally from the takeaway secret by Kenny Mcgovern which is an excellent book.

Beth2511 · 25/01/2015 19:50

Nope a take away kebab that dad bought because he wanted one himself. Child wanted soldiers and egg :(

OP posts:
AwfulBeryl · 25/01/2015 19:51

I use that recipe too Tits. It's really nice, I don't like kebabary doners but the home made one is lovely.

In that case, I agree with you. Poor wee thing.

WowserBowser · 25/01/2015 19:53

Give the kid a break, they may have a hangover. I love a good bit of donna with a hangover.

LonnyVonnyWilsonFrickett · 25/01/2015 19:54

That's a bit of a drip feed isn't it, but yes after your second post I would say it's selfish. Surely he could have boiled an egg and made a bit of toast? And still have got a kebab for himself?

This thread has made me want a kebab. I've eaten an awful lot of junk food in my time but I've never actually had a kebab. No reason why but now I am sad. Sad

shouldnthavesaid · 25/01/2015 19:59

Who donated it? Grin
