AIBU to think this children's picture book is a bit rude and like a junior Jilly Cooper bonkfest or have I got a mucky mind?

Touch the leathery boot. Hmm

Rainicorn · 20/01/2015 14:32

Arf.

Before I opened the thread, I thought you may have been reading "Mummy laid an egg". It's a child's book on where babies come from, see attached photo. I bought it for my sons, but because of this bit,mum too embarrassed to show it to them.

Ha ha! We have Mummy Laid an Egg and we love it!
The leathery boot touching suggestion made me shudder in a bad way and the photo of the crop, hat and wellies looks like it should have a couple romping next to it.

Yes we had that ...I could never read 'touch the leathery boot' without feeling grubby

MrsKCastle · 20/01/2015 14:45

I find the last line of the blurb rather disturbing as well.

Touch my leathery boot kids! Shock

reminds me of an accidental piece of filth DD brought home as homework when she was 4...it was all about measuring and there was a clip art on the worksheet of a cartoon man measuring his dick!

It was tiny and the somewhat elderly teacher probably thought he was just admiring his long yardstick! Grin

We never told her.

liquidstateisonthemulled · 20/01/2015 16:58

I have just got a 'Felty Flaps' book out of the library for DD. I sniggered like a schoolkid.

CaffeLatteIceCream · 20/01/2015 17:29

That is perfect Spiderlight Grin

Discopanda · 20/01/2015 18:41

I once borrowed a picture book from the library about jobs and the caption for the builder was "let's get busy". I peed myself a little.

MsSampson · 20/01/2015 18:51

We've got "this is not my train". One page references a rusty funnel, which I actually looked up on urban dictionary and then regretted Shock

MyCarHasBrokenDownAgain · 20/01/2015 18:57

Look at the 'nose' on this one! Can't remember what the book was called, but I swear the artist must have had money on whether he'd sneak this past the editors! Grin

I must say I had to give this one a double-take when I saw it in the library? Is it just me?

Rainicorn I am so glad you posted that! I'm sure we brought that for DH's nephew's birthday to teach him about the 'birds and the bees'. He was 16 at the time (and already very popular with the girls) - he bloody LOVED it!

Hurr1cane · 20/01/2015 19:21

Hahaha.

DP was reading 'the tiger who came to tea' with DS once, a book I had read to him and my class many times.

He said "it can't be the milkman, because he came this morning. It can't be the...... My, mummy has a lot of male friends coming doesn't she?"

Ruined the entire book for me

polish your hooves every single day
and take you to the horse dentist

My lovely, lovely, lovely horse...

I take great delight for buying "mummy lays an egg" for friends expecting DC2.

And no..I don't warn them!

FailOfTheCentury · 20/01/2015 19:57

I am primarily offended by the missing apostrophe.

FailOfTheCentury · 20/01/2015 20:06

Oops; forgot my winky face.

Minty82 · 20/01/2015 20:12

Fail - I was about to say exactly the same thing! How did that make it to the printers?!

We have 'That's Not My Santa', which contains the immortal line:

'That's not my santa, his sack is too rough.'

No-one can read this with a straight face Grin
