Plusnet messed me around and messed up my bill. So they refunded what they owed me 22 pounds in November. However they did the samein Dec and jan. I know its a mistake, but aibu to just keep quiet about it? Money is tight andi did spend a lot calling them up to sort out the mistakes they made

Are you prepared for them to realise the error and send you an adjustment bill for £44?
Then you can send them a bill itemising the cost of the calls and your time to sort out their error?

sanquhar · 17/01/2015 09:44

I would stop this before you are presented with a large bill to pay back.

If you phone now they will probably write the money off as a mistake.

SteptoeAndDaughter · 17/01/2015 09:44

I don't know what Plusnet is. But at a certain point they are likely to twig and will want the money back. So better put a stop to it asap.

Is there some way you can contact them without incurring a high phone bill? Those things give me the rage TBH, you shouldn't have to pay money to get them to sort out their own mistakes!

Thedragonsinthebedroom · 17/01/2015 09:44

I would drop them an email or let them know on social media. I'd make it clear that you aren't calling due to the cost of calling them and that it has already cost you a lot in calls to them. They may just say keep it which would be a bonus but I think you do need to let them know!

BellsUpMyNose · 17/01/2015 09:46

you could keep quiet but be prepared for when they take that money back and let you know afterwards it could leave you right in the shit

Catzeyess · 17/01/2015 09:46

They will make you pay them back unfortunately. Let them know and they might let you keep it. If you keep it a secret they will find out eventually.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 17/01/2015 09:48

They'll realise they've made an error and want the money back at some point, be prepared for that.

alittlethyme · 17/01/2015 09:48

Its all direct debit, so I am prepared for them to just suddenly zap away the money.

The people saying they might just write it off, is that from experience? It is a worry, so that would be the best outcome and to get it sorted

Plusnet are based in Sheffield and it is free to call them...

alittlethyme · 17/01/2015 10:03

Not on pay as you go mobile, freephone costs 15p amin and I'm a broadband only customer

ScrambledEggAndToast · 17/01/2015 10:16

As tempting as it is, I agree with the people who say let them know because when they eventually realise you will be even worse off.

Icimoi · 17/01/2015 10:18

Keeping the money is theft

SquidgyMaltLoaf · 17/01/2015 10:20

Go on saynoto0870.com and you'll find a landline number which is free from a mobile.

Tell them - it is technically stealing otherwise.

leelteloo · 17/01/2015 10:30

Pay it back. I was over payed in my final pay cheque from a job I had finished, I didn't realise. Few months later they came after me for the money, I tried not to pay it as I didn't have it and they got solicitors involved. I payed it back quick!

skylark2 · 17/01/2015 10:38

I would send them an email. Then you've got a paper trail if they claim you didn't tell them in a way you won't have with a phonecall.

PhaedraIsMyName · 17/01/2015 10:40

Agree re email or letter. No you can't just ignore it.

LetMeHearTheMusic · 17/01/2015 17:15

I work for Plusnet and I'd appreciate it if you reported this. Errors of this kind impact on Plusnet's profits, when can then impact on our yearly bonus - money is tight for me too...

BTW Plusnet also advertise a local rate 0345 number for people on mobiles to call, alongside the 0800 number.

Tell them - they will realise sooner or later and claim the money back. I hadn't realised I was underpaying my gas and electric for six months, next thing I know I'm being direct debited for £160 per month to bring me out of arrears.

londonrach · 17/01/2015 18:40

Love plusnet. Best internet provider there is. Phone them as they realise their mistake and ask for money back.

Purplepoodle · 17/01/2015 18:54

Could you email them or contact them on their website to tell them of their mistake

Buxtonstill · 17/01/2015 19:13

They will just take the money out by direct debit when they realise. They will not need authorisation from you to do this; direct debit amounts can vary, whatever the company asks your bank for. Only standing orders are fixed. So either keep it in your account until they take it back, or if you are likely to spend it, just tell them.

NatashaGurdin · 17/01/2015 19:33

I'm with Plusnet and I usually raise a question on the Members support part of the website if I have a query.

I find them really helpful and I like the fact that they have a UK based call centre.

I've been with them for internet provision for years and last year I switched to them for my land line phone as well as they were a lot cheaper than my previous supplier.

londonrach · 17/01/2015 19:45

Natasha ob the rare time you phone them dont you have the most amazing yorkshire accent. One guy i spoke to i was ready to leave dh and have his babies just on the accent!!!!!

londonrach · 17/01/2015 19:46
