Gives me the rage .... but I'm finding everything gives me the rage lately. Not sure if it's hormones or age.

I used to be so laid back.

Raised by wolves.
I love it.
Can't wait to do a head tilt with slightly concerned expression whilst enquiring 'and were they raised by wolves? '

YABU. Topped up glasses mean it's hard to track alcohol consumption.

FourEyesGood · 16/01/2015 21:51

YABU, for the many varied reasons already listed by previous boozehounds.

grocklebox · 16/01/2015 21:51

if you're getting the rage, you haven't had enough wine.

Metalguru · 16/01/2015 21:52

It is far more annoying when you are about to top up a guests glass and they either move it or cover it! What's that all about? Just say no! And if you are that worried the host is going to do it anyway, leave it! Better than wine all over the table surely?

ohbollocks2u · 16/01/2015 22:10

What is it about MN rage ???

I offer people wine /beer/whatever they fancy

They say yes or no or just help themselves , I don't give it a second thought

Odd IABU

FrChewieLouie · 16/01/2015 22:13

I hate being topped up. I need to keep track of my intake, plus I don't like the old wine/new wine mix. I'll happily drink your Angry Wine though.

dontcallnotdating · 16/01/2015 22:14

I like a nice cold fresh glass of wine, so I'd probably do this too. I'm not drinking at the moment though - so just fantasizing about chilled white wine now!

Trills · 16/01/2015 22:24

Reasons for doing this:

1 - there is likely to be a shortage, so I'm making sure I get a BIG top-up

2 - I think you might have a "different bottle of white" and don't want to mix

If doing this when neither of these is a possibility, it's rude because I would be suggesting that they might happen.

2rebecca · 16/01/2015 22:26

I don't like having my glass topped up either. I like to keep track of how much I'm drinking so prefer my glass to be empty before it's refilled.

NormHonal · 16/01/2015 22:28

No to the old/new wine mixing.

2rebecca · 16/01/2015 22:28

I think you're being a bit presumptuous by topping up people's glasses as well.
What's the rush if it's not empty?

ScotsWhaHae · 16/01/2015 22:28

Why wouldn't you drain your glass? I don't want to get diddled out of wine!

If they're drinking the last drop of wine or gulping down half a glass. If it's a mouthful or two then YABU. If they are panicking about someone getting more than you and downing a half glass then YNBU. I don't like my glass being topped up as I'm a worried drinker so I try to control my intake by finishing the glass, however my sister the greedy drinker would panic and down a half glass in order to get her, perceived, fare share. In fact she usually drank the majority of wine, vodka, etc.

InkleWinkle · 16/01/2015 22:48

I hate a smudgy glass.

Also I prefer to finish a glass so I can keep track of how much I've had.

For driving purposes the next day obvs not for shrieking "BUT I ONLY HAD TEN GLASSES" while puking at 2am Grin

CaulkheadUpNorth · 16/01/2015 22:49

I do this, but I thought it was the polite thing to do. Is it not? begins to question everything done

2rebecca · 16/01/2015 22:49

Sounds like the consensus is to only ask people whose glasses are empty if they want more and leave the rest to finish and top themselves up.

usualsuspect333 · 16/01/2015 22:50

Eh?

Trills · 16/01/2015 22:52

Topup people who look like they want topping up.

By looking at their faces, not just their glasses.

If there are multiple people with empty glasses, you're not topping up fast enough.

Cooki3Monst3r · 16/01/2015 22:57

I totally do this! Nothing to do with rations though. It's just the fear of mixing my sauvignon blanc with a chardonnay - arrrrggghhhh!!!!!!! The horror!!!!!!

Seriously, I'd be really Sad if someone filled up my non-empty glass without knowing or checking what I was already drinking.

Cooki3Monst3r · 16/01/2015 22:59

Ah, Altinkum a lady of true class. Smile

VenusRising · 16/01/2015 23:11

According to the Daily Fail, White wine is now to be blamed for giving people the rage!

I like to know how many glasses I've drunk of anything, so I prefer to finish one before I have another. The drunkest I've ever been, was at a wedding where the hovering waiter kept pouring more and more wine into my glass and I never could tell how many I'd had also it was white wine, which makes me legless and wheezy (not a great combo).

If someone must insist on topping up I get another glass so I can keep track.

Yabvu to top up, it's not tea in need of a hot drop you know!

Theimpossiblegirl · 16/01/2015 23:11

I like a fresh glass rather than a top up at home but would feel guilty (and scared) imposing that on a host. :)

AIBU: People who want a fresh glass every time I try to top up their effing wine why can't they just knock back what they have and let me get on with it?
