Fresh coriander . To me, when I eat it accidentally, it tastes like nasty bitter soap.

I've got a lovely spiced Indian chicken breast with KEENOWAH quinoa for lunch from the local deli and there is coriander chopped up into millions of little bits and I can't pick it out.

On second thoughts maybe this should go into the first world problems thread.

No other food can be banned until parsnips are made illegal. Filth, that's what they are.

honeysucklejasmine · 14/01/2015 17:19

YANBU It tastes like soap! i'm sure its a genetic thing, affects your taste receptors or something

And cardamon. Eugh!

RabidZombie · 14/01/2015 17:19

Yep, coriander is horrid, tastes like soap and should be banned from food! OP YANBU!

scotchmincepie · 14/01/2015 17:20

Love coriander. OH and his son can't stand cucumber and think it has a vile strong taste - his other 2 kids think it doesn't taste of anything - I think it tastes fine. Quite like it.

limitedperiodonly · 14/01/2015 17:30

I've just put a frittata-thingy in the oven made with beaten eggs, obviously, and fried leftovers:

sliced onions;
sliced potatoes;
sliced courgettes;
sliced mushroom;
chopped tomato;
grated cheese;
salt, pepper and dried oregano.

so far so good, but I added a bit of tuna, sweetcorn and mayonnaise mix and some extra sweetcorn from the tin [oops].

It has about 15 minutes to go and then about 10 minutes to cool down.

Wish me luck.

Seahorses Thanks Coriander helps poorly bunnies by getting their digestion going again after illness and is a good idea to give regulary to fussy rabbits to keep them eating.

AllThePrettySeahorses · 14/01/2015 17:45

Been madly refreshing this thread hoping to find out about the bunnies, BuzzardBird Grin.

We used to give dandelions and clover to our rabbits as a treat - they did have outdoor access but loved them in their food bowls. If I ever have another (v unlikely) I'll remember to give them coriander.

XiCi · 14/01/2015 17:50

Coriander to me tastes like a mouthful of fairy liquid, disgusting. Cardamon is the same.
So do the people that like coriander not taste the soap taste that the rest of us do? Very strange

XiCi · 14/01/2015 17:53

The coriander totally overwhelms everything else on the plate as well so the only taste you can distinguish is an overwhelming soapy one, completely ruins any meal

Moresproutsplease · 14/01/2015 18:02

I absolutely love the taste of coriander, it doesn't taste at all soapy to me, thankfully.

I also love celery and brussels sprouts, much to my DC's disgust.

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 14/01/2015 18:10

I live carrot and coriander soup. It's my favourite soup.

It don't taste like soap though.

HairyOrk · 14/01/2015 18:12

celery is the devils food.
As are mushrooms (sorry) and caviar

SoupDragon · 14/01/2015 18:14

I hate fresh coriander. When I used to order from the local Thai takeaway, I always asked them to leave it out.

SoupDragon · 14/01/2015 18:16

There used to be a sweet when I was little called something like fairy gems, tiny gummy sweets. The white ones tasted of soap to me - perhaps they were coriander flavoured :o

Andrewofgg · 14/01/2015 18:20

limitedperiodonly Set another place, I'm on my way and hungry!

ChablisLover · 14/01/2015 18:20

NonUrinatInVentum · 14/01/2015 18:42

I take it all back. SAVE THE BUNNIES! Yay for coriander. Just don't put it in my food, ok? Grin

marioluigi · 14/01/2015 19:41

Soupdragon - floral gums Grin yum!

I LOVE CORIANDER! It's like the best herb, use buckets of the stuff in our house.

BuzzardBird · 14/01/2015 19:45

I am going to attempt (once again) to grow it in the spring as I eat it like a rabbit too. My bunnies have happy tummies :)

Fresh coriander is foul.
Coriander the spice is one of the gifts of the gods.

PS Do all you coriander-haters out there also hate the devil's own mini cabbages sprouts

tidytidy · 14/01/2015 19:50

I think you need to be over 40 to like coriander

ilikepie · 14/01/2015 19:50

No, love sprouts, hate coriander, so no correlation there.
