To tell DH about shock BFP while he's at work?

Onsera3 · 13/01/2015 12:04

Picked up some tests at Tesco this morning and have just got BFP on both.

We are preparing for a frozen embryo transfer at the moment. Our DS was conceived through IVF.

I am in shock as we really want a baby but I also feel guilty for the frozen blastocyst who has a high percentage of success and has been waiting for almost 3 years for a chance.

My family are all asleep on the other side of the world.

Is it etiquette to wait til DH gets home from work?

Whatever you decide, I just want to wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy. Congratulations Flowers

MrsTawdry · 13/01/2015 14:30

Beautiful news OP! Don't let the frozen one make you feel guilty.

Jengnr · 13/01/2015 14:32

Text him a picture of the stick and ask him what he thinks it is.

(My husband didn't know :D )

TheCraicDealer · 13/01/2015 14:44

Congratulations!

I wouldn't tell him now; this has the potential for a BIG surprise. I'd go out and buy a "Big Brother" tshirt for DS, fold it and put it on DP's chair so he'd find it at dinner. Just so long as DS can't read...!

SeasonsEatings · 13/01/2015 14:52

wait, put some champagne in the fridge and hope that your DH doesn't get delayed (like mine did!)...

Onsera3 · 13/01/2015 14:55

Thank you so much!

I hope the frostie will be fine waiting as I am not adverse to three. DH was more inclined towards two but after facing infertility I think you take what you can get.

I couldn't even face being in the same room as DS's pregnancy test as there was so much riding on it. DH was the one who had to check it. So this is quite a different experience!

DS kept me busy during the lunch hour window so looks like it will have to wait til he gets home.

Congratulations!!

Florabeebaby · 13/01/2015 16:01

How wonderful!

BuntyCollocks · 13/01/2015 16:24

Fantastic news. Same thing happened to my dbil and dsil - and we now have two beautiful nieces a lot closer than we thought we would have, and no one would change our little miracle for anything.

littlemisstax · 13/01/2015 16:26

Congratulations!

Is DS small enough to not be able to read (assuming you're not telling him yet) - he could make daddy a card/wear a t-shirt you've written "I'm going to be a big brother" on

Laura0806 · 13/01/2015 16:27

what lovely news!! congrats. Sure your frozen embryo will wait. Some things are meant to be! x

Laura0806 · 13/01/2015 16:27

let us know what he says !

Turquoisetamborine · 13/01/2015 16:29

Wow congratulations! Wait til he comes home so you can see his face

mummymeister · 13/01/2015 16:41

congratulations. you must be in shock. similar happened to me. 2 DC's very happy and not thinking of any more treatment. then boof found out I was pregnant naturally. I told mine on the phone because we were worried that the sickness and tiredness were due to something serious but otherwise would have waited to see his face. take it all one step at a time. it is a shock more so if you have been for treatment. and 3 DC's is a lovely number your other baby-in-waiting can wait.

MildDrPepperAddiction · 13/01/2015 16:55

Aw, congratulations!

letsplaynice · 13/01/2015 20:32

Well how did he take the news!?

QOD · 13/01/2015 20:42

Ooooooo come on!

PiperIsTerrysChoclateOrange · 13/01/2015 20:46

Congratulations I hope DH reaction was worth the wait.

GreenPetal94 · 13/01/2015 20:48

Was DH pleased? That's great news.

phoenixrose314 · 13/01/2015 20:50

Really want to know how he took this news! Congrats OP xx

waithorse · 13/01/2015 20:54
Thanks
MorelliOrRanger · 13/01/2015 21:03

Oh this is fantastic. Congratulations.

Onsera3 · 13/01/2015 22:58

He was quite speechless! I couldn't even look him in the face and then he sat down with DS so I said 'Oh while your sitting down, I'm pregnant.'

Then he said 'How?' and I had to explain the dates. He gave me a big hug and kiss and then DS asked to be lifted up to join in.

DH has then spent the rest of the evening writing out financial plansSmile I guess someone has to be practical!

Thank you all for your well wishes! We are both still so shocked.
