Seriously. This happens occasionally since I was small. Say, once every 2/3 years. I think it's one of those things that happens to everyone at least a few times in their life.

It hurts like hell. Like giving birth but I never knew that when I was a kid. I had it happen to me today and it was excruciating pain for about 3 mins I had to breathe like I was having contractions. It's the first time it's happened in about 4 years.

What's the scientific reason for it?

(I'm not a poo troll or anything, just want to know if it's one of those human bodily functions that are strange and happen to everyone).

Javelin arse can't be linked to periods though because I still get this and completed menopause 8 years ago now.
Maybe people get it at time of period but it must be a coincidence.

whats4teamum · 01/01/2015 23:54

Prune juice - sorted.

watchingthedetectives · 01/01/2015 23:55

Sacharissa That sounds like a vaso-vagal episode - the bowel doesn't like being stretched too much and it can trigger an attack. usually your pulse slows right down at the same time as the cold sweat and shaking (it is worth checking it) It can make you faint but is usually very short lived and if you can lie down for a minute or two will settle.

May also be worse if you are constipated and have to strain a bit

o0 · 01/01/2015 23:57

Thanks watching. Smile

Will go google that. It's nice to know it's a 'thing' iykwim. A weird thing, but a I'm not alone with a weird butt thing. Grin

ScaryHairyFairy · 02/01/2015 00:03

sunshine, it does feel like there is another pocket inside towards my tail bone and that's where it gets stuck. Maybe I do have rectal diverticulum.

OP posts:
ScaryHairyFairy · 02/01/2015 00:06

"Rectal diverticulum" sounds like something taught in Defence against the Dark Arts Grin.

watchingthedetectives · 02/01/2015 00:07

Rectal diverticulae are really rare - much more more likely is something like a rectocoele causing obstructed defaecation. Again this fits with your other symptoms

DecaffCoffeeAndRollupsPlease · 02/01/2015 00:26

The symptom of another pocket sounds like rectocele to me too.

Madmum24 · 02/01/2015 00:56

OP I do kind of understand what you mean, sometimes I feel like there is a U-bend in my rectum and the poo is "sucked" up it. I strongly suspect it is a muscular spasm, in my case due to pain caused by piles/fissure. When my piles are bad I get the "sucking" sensation even when i don't need to do a poo. I need to breathe through these contractions too although the visualization techniques of my cervix opening up like a flower do not seem to help

trufflesnout · 02/01/2015 01:48

It'd be like sectumsempra but so, so much worse

HappenstanceMarmite · 02/01/2015 01:58

Exactly what I thought. It actually is how you are feeling it - as a "pocket" where the pop gets stuck. See GP.

singleandfabulous · 02/01/2015 02:05

OP, it sounds like rectocele which I have the mild form of. You can get it in varying degrees from mild to major. Essentially, yes, your poo goes somewhere else and can get stuck. A gyne surgeon could examine you and diagnose properly.

GlitterBelle · 02/01/2015 02:13

On this subject, I sometimes have bad constipation (mostly due to morphine) and I tore myself going (I think? Agonising pain followed by blood).

That was months ago, it's still really fucking painful to go whether I'm constipated or not - a really, really sharp pain and there is frequently blood there. Sometimes quite a lot, sometimes just a few spots. I also used to go once a day, but it's now more like every 3 days (thankfully!)

I mentioned it to my doctor and she just asked if the blood was fresh, I said yes and she didn't seem bothered about it. (I understand dark blood is serious). It's still going on and feel too awkward bringing it up, plus I normally a million and one things to ask that are more urgent.

I do have some Movicol so wondered if I should take that not try and soften everything, to try and give myself time to heal? Is that a good idea?

FastWindow · 02/01/2015 02:20

See now, I thought I had javelin arse.

But for me it's the knitting needle up the vag. Proper in drawn breath, Jesus type stuff.

Just me then Grin

NobodyLivesHere · 02/01/2015 04:08

I'm Pmsl at 'javelin arse', though I know exactly what you mean by it!

ithoughtofitfirst · 02/01/2015 04:10

Abiga that made me LOL in the dark Grin as in literally making the bed shake with laughter.

Having all kinds of asshole trouble since having a baby.

Sorry OP I'm glad this thread gave you a name for your problem. That must be horrible.

DropYourSword · 02/01/2015 04:25

trufflesnout Rectumsempra, surely

ithoughtofitfirst · 02/01/2015 04:26

Just googled javelin arse. First thing that came up? A MN thread. Obv. It was about post bath gush. I am CRYING.

Check it out if you get a sec.

I love how I'm feeding a baby which is all sweet and innocent, reading about javelin arse and can overhear a pair of drugged up tramps having a fight outside my window.

Tattiebogle · 02/01/2015 04:50

I was wondering about Rectocele also.

Bulbasaur · 02/01/2015 04:55

Since this thread is here can I ask if anyone else gets weird cold flushes when pooing sometimes?

I get that when I have diarrhea, ice goes up my spine. I think that's just a normal part of being sick. When I'm healthy though, no.

I have never heard of reverse poo's before though. This thread is entertaining in a watching a train wreck sort of way. Grin

ithoughtofitfirst · 02/01/2015 05:03

I am now reading a MN classic thread about weird body things bulbasaur it's absolutely outstanding.

I should really be sleeping.

Bulbasaur · 02/01/2015 05:19

Grin OMG! I looked up the thread.

Fantastic. WTF did I just read? I don't know. But I think I like it? Grin Grin

BathshebaDarkstone · 02/01/2015 05:31
